Glimmer Mist Class

Here are the supplies I received from ACOT:

Here are some of the specific products I will be using during the class.  All of the underlined names are linked to the products in the store if you click on them:

  Peach Delight Glimmer Mist
 Glacier Glimmer Mist

  Red Velvet Glimmer Mist

  BG Candles PP

  Crate's Sweet Branch- Cherish PP

  Crate's Kaitlin- Heartbreaker PP

Here are some other things I grabbed from my stash to use:

The most important thing when using Glimmer Mist is to make sure you shake it well.  The bottom will look like this when  you first pick it up:

All of the glitter is settled on the bottom.  You want to shake it WELL, so all of the glitter mixes in and it looks like this:

Tip**Even if you put it down for 10 seconds, the glitter seems to settle back down to the bottom.  Make sure you shake it every time you pick it up.

Tip** I usually save the cardboard 12 X12 sheets from my orders to use under my Glimmer Mist when I spray.  I usually spray enough glimmer mist on whatever I am trying to cover so that there is a thin uniform layer.

Here is a piece of chipboard that I sprayed it on.  I am using the Red Velvet here on a white piece of chipboard:

You can use a heat embossing gun to dry the Glimmer Mist quicker.  Be careful not to let the heat get too close to the piece or you could burn it.  I recommend moving the embossing gun around while drying it.

Here it is dry:

Tip**See how in the above photo there is a spot that isn't the same color as the rest of the chipboard?  If you notice the photo where it is wet, that area wasn't covered with as much Mist as the other areas.  You could add a second coat to the entire piece to try and even out the color.   I have also discovered that if you have spots with extra Mist and notice them while it is wet, you can take a paper towel and dab up those areas.    I think this works best so you don't get too much color and it doesn't take a really long time to dry.

Tip**The more Glimmer Mist you spray, the more concentrated the color.  This can be good or bad, depending on the shade you desire.

Tip**You can spray Glimmer Mist in one color and let dry.  If the shade isn't what you were looking for, try another shade on top of the first.  You will get some really cool colors by mixing and matching your colors.

Next, try spraying some flowers with Glimmer Mist.  I think it works great on paper flowers such as Primas.  I had these mint green flowers forever and decided to use the Glimmer Mist on them to see how they would turn out.  I haven't used them in at least a year so I figured I had nothing to lose.

I used a variety of different colors including Robin's Egg Blue, Key LIme, Daffodil, Jazz Blue and more.  I can honestly say there wasn't a flower I wouldn't use and loved the results.  I turned these flowers that were a color I never used into something I couldn't wait to use.

Some of the prinicples of color mixing apply to using Glimmer Mist.  On this red flower, I sprayed Daffodil Yellow and it gave it a glittery burnt orange color that I loved!

Another thing you can do with Glimmer Mist is use it change the shade of paper you are using.  Check out the Orange and Blue Thank You card to see what I did with the paper.

Here I used Glimmer MIst with a mask.  There are masks you can buy commercially, such as the ones by Heidi Swapp, or you can use stickers, which I did in the following example:

I sprayed the chipboard with Lavendar Fields Glimmer Mist:

Here are some cards that I made using the Glimmer Mist techniques I described above.

Blue and Orange Thank You Card

I used the Crate Sweet Branch's Cherish PP.  I flipped it over to the neutral backside.  I cut one piece that was 7"wide by 12" in length.  I then made a second cut to produce 2 pieces- one that was 2"x7" and 7"x10".

I sprayed the piece that was 7" x 10" with the Peach Delight Glimmer Mist:

Let it dry completely then fold in half to produce a card that is 5"x 7".  Add the strip of pp that is 2"x7".  I finished the card by stitching, adding the flowers we colored earlier with brads and adding the Thank You chipboard.  Refer to the finished card for product placement.

Pink and Purple Hi Card

I used White Bazzill CS, The Crate Kaitlin's Heartbreaker PP and the chipboard butterfly we created above with the masking technique.  From the white CS, I cut a piece that measures 6"x 8" .  I folded the piece in half to make a 4"x6" card.  I cut a piece of the Heartbreaker pp to 3 3/4" x 5 3/4".  I glued it to the white card with the purple color facing up.  I cut a second piece from the Heartbreaker pp that measured 4" x 3 1/4":

I then glued this piece of pp to the right side of the card, added lace and the chipboard butterfly we made with our stickers for masks.  Check out the finished card for product placement.

Red, Blue and Yellow Sweet Card

I started by cutting a piece of white CS to 6" x 8" like we did with the last card.  We will fold it in half again so we have a 4" x 6" card.  I cut a piece of Blue Basic Grey PP to 3 1/2" x 5 1/2".   Next, I cut a piece from the BG Candles PP to approximatedly 1 1/2"x 6" :

I glued the blue pp in the center of the white card and then added the strip of pp about 2/3 of the way down the card horizontally.

I sprayed a piece of scalloped chipboard with the Red Velvet Glimmer MIst:

I am really happy that you can see all of the sparkles GM adds in the above photo.  A lot of the details can be lost in a scan or picture but IRL, this product is amazing.  I added a rub-on in the center of the scalloped chipboard circle once it was COMPLETELY dry.  I then layered the chipboard scalloped circle on top of yellow chipboard flower and a clear MM red polka dot acetate flower.  Check out the finished card for product placement.

I hope you learned more about how many different ways you can use Glimmer Mist and enjoyed the class.

What a great article - thanks. I've been working on a scrapbook of my Alaska cruise and was having a hard time finding exactly the backgrounds I wanted. So I bought a bottle of GM while I was on vacation (there are no stores near me that sell it) and started playing when I got home. On several pages I stamped swirls with Distress Ink and sprayed over with GM and on others I sprayed GM right on the paper and, while it was still wet did some 'finger painting' drawing swirls and waves with my fingers. I have to say this is fast becoming my favorite product.
