December Creative Team Challenges!

Holiday Creativity from the Team!

It's time to unwrap another jam packed month of inspiration! December, for most of us, is a time of merriment, warmth, and joy.  I hope this month's Creative Team challenges bring you additional joy and at least a little mojo too.  Happy Holidays to all of you!

As a reminder:

- only one LO per challenge will enter you into the points drawing

- LOs cannot be entered into more than one challenge category

- *please* only enter LOs that meet the specific challenge instructions

Ad Inspiration Challenge - By MamaK321 (Kristianne)

Paper or Digital

Ad inspiration is about taking ideas, such as colors, patterns, title or keywords, theme, font styles, and element placement, and using them to create your own layout. You can break the ad inspiration down to a basic sketch, copy a prominent design straight from the ad, or you can alter a design to fit your own layout. Most ads are 8.5" x 11" but you can adapt the ad to fit any size. Remember, this is not a sketch and you are not required to follow every detail. The key is to really LOOK at the ad and find the pieces that INSPIRE you!

Card Challenge - By bluejeans7 (Angela)

Paper or Digital

It's December and time to start on those Christmas cards!  Since this time of is so busy I have a simple challenge for you.  Create a Christmas card using the traditional Christmas time colors....red, white and green.

Color Challenge - by Art_Teacher (Laura)

Paper or Digital

I love Christmas and I love the combinations of Christmas colors: red and green or red and silver or red and gold...all those traditional color schemes warm my heart and most of my Christmas pages use them somewhere.  But, we all have them...those Christmas photos that don't work with the traditional Christmas colors.  This month's color challenge is to scrap some Christmas photos using non-traditional colors, i.e. no red or green!.  If you don't celebrate Christmas, then scrap your holiday photos using non-traditional colors for that holiday.

Here is my sample layout...since my hubby wore purple and is holding a yellow gift card, I chose purple and golden yellow tones for this layout.

Digi Do-Able Challenge - By ICanHasCherryOnTop (Tracy)

Digital only

Welcome to another edition of Digi Do-Ables! Each month we'll be highlighting one of
the wonderful scrappers here at A Cherry On Top. You never know who we might select, and
each scrapper who has their layout featured will receive 100 ACOT
points! Our featured layout this month is by
HapEScrapr

For this challenge, go to the Digi Shoppe and download the
free template.  Then, use that template to create your own layout. Flip it, change it, or just use it as it is, it's up to you. The Digi Designers have cooked up lots of new products that sparkle and shine and they'd be perfect for this layout. Make sure to head on over to the
Digi Shoppe  and check them out!

Here is this month's template:

And here's what I did with it:

Digi Double Challenge - By nun69 (Angie)

Digi Technique Challenge - By Mommybruno (Cassandra)

Digital only

This month’s challenge is to use your cookie cutter tool (or similar shape-cutting tool) to create paper-pieced seasonal embellishments. For example, on this card I created a pine tree using upside down hearts digitally cut out of green paper. I inked the edges to help give them definition, and shadowed them to lift the ends up a bit. To make the trunk of the tree I simply used the rectangle cookie cutter. I also created this penguin using just shapes in my cookie cutter! The body is a pear (with the stem erased), the beak is a triangle, and everything else is ovals and half-circles. Inked edges help the different pieces stand out and give them dimension.

So take a look through your cookie cutter options and see what you can do with some of the simple shapes in there. Let your imagination be your guide!

In The News Challenge - By LoveMyBella (Miranda)

Paper or Digital

Journaling Challenge - By Mommybruno (Cassandra)

Paper or Digital

It's the Christmas season: my favorite time of the year! I love decorating, buying and wrapping gifts, and mostly I love Santa! I thought it might be fun this month to challenge you to write a letter to Santa. And by you, I mean YOU! Not your kids. Not your dogs. You, yourself. I chose to write to a Santa that I knew. You could also write to Santa about your Christmas wish list, about your thoughts on the holiday...anything, as long as it's addressed to the Jolly Old Elf himself!

Let the Music Move You Challenge - By Kimandasmo (Cindy)

Paper or Digital

This month's song come to you courtesy of the 1980's- it is by Roxette. I was looking at a pile of pictures of my dd from a recent photo shoot and could not come up with a good title. This song was playing on the radio and I knew immediately what my title was going to be.

Here are the lyrics-- use them any way you like as inspiration for a layout.

1-2-3-4
walking like a man
hitting like a hammer
she's a juvenile scam.
Never was a quitter
tasty like a raindrop
she's got the look.

Heavenly bound cause heaven's got a number
when she's spinning me around
kissing is a colour.
Her loving is a wild dog
she's got the look.

chorus:
She's got the look.
(She's got the look.)
She's got the look.
(She's got the look.)
What in the world can make a brown-eyed girl turn blue.
When everything I'll ever do I'll do for you and I go:
la la la la la she's got the look.

Fire in the ice naked to the t-bone is a lover's disguise.
Banging on the head drum
shaking like a mad bull
she's got the look.

Swaying to the band
moving like a hammer she's a miracle man.
Loving is the ocean
kissing is the wet sand
she's got the look.

Chorus

walking like a man
hitting like a hammer
she's a juvenile scam.
Never was a quitter
tasty like a raindrop
she's got the look.

And she goes: na na na na na na na na na na na na na na na.

Chorus

What in the world can make you so blue,
When everything I'll ever do I'll do for you and I go:
la la la la la...... na na na na na na na na na na na shes got the look
na na na na na na na na na na na na na shes got the look
na na na na na na na na na na na na na shes got the look
na na na na na na na na na na na na na shes got the look

And here is my layout:

Trends & Techniques Challenge - By katarria (Kathy)

Paper or Digital

Lace, I've seen it everywhere lately!  Whether you use lace cardstock, paper lace, or fabric lace, I want to see some of it on your layouts this month.  This month's challenge is to create a layout where you use some sort of lace.  I've been digging through my stash lately and using lots of lace cardstock by KI Memories.  LOVE the stuff!!
