June Challenges!


Inspiration from the Creative Team

June is here already??  How fast the time flies!  I can't believe that in a few short weeks it will be the official start of Summer.  I know you have lots going on right now with all the graduations, weddings, reunions, and other fun plans but that just means you'll need to pencil in some scrap time to help you unwind!  The CT here at ACOT hopes that our challenges this month can jump start your scrappy mojo and keep your creativity flowing all through the month. 

Remember:

- only one LO per challenge will enter you into the points drawing

- LOs cannot be entered into more than one challenge category

- *please* only enter LOs that meet the specific challenge instructions  


Ad Inspiration Challenge - By MamaK321 (Kristianne)

Paper or Digital

Ad inspiration is about taking ideas, such as colors, patterns, title or keywords, theme, font styles, and element placement, and using them to create your own layout. You can break the ad inspiration down to a basic sketch, copy a prominent design straight from the ad, or you can alter a design to fit your own layout. Most ads are 8.5x11" but you can adapt the ad to fit any size. Remember, this is not a sketch and you are not required to follow every detail. The key is to really LOOK at the ad and find the pieces that INSPIRE you!



Card Challenge - By bluejeans7 (Angela)

Dad, Daddy, Papa, Pop... whatever you call your dad show him how much you love him by making him a handmade card for Father's Day. Use the color combo of blue, green and brown on your card.

So, last month's color challenge had us strolling down memory lane with the colors of our high school alma maters. This month, I want you to think back at least 15 years. I don't know about you, but my favorite color schemes have changed with the years and the fashions, I think. So, when you think back, what was your favorite color combination 15 years ago? For some of us, that means we will be thinking back to elementary days and for others... college or our young adult lives. LOL! My favorite color combo in the early 90's was peach and teal or mint. Now, I don't think I'd be caught dead in those colors, but I thought they were gorgeous, then. Here is my example layout:

One of the things I love about my home is the view out of my kitchen window - I have a great backyard, perfect for the kids. It is part of our everyday ritual to let the boys run wild for a little bit out there and I'm glad I can keep an eye on them. So, in that vein, I challenge you to document a view out of your home, apartment, or even work place.

JUNE FAITHBOOKING CHALLENGE - HONOR

Create a page that is inspired by and/or includes one of the Bible passages, quotes or definitions below.

June always brings fathers to my mind, especially as it holds both Father's Day, as well as my father's and grandfather's birthdays. The Bible teaches us to honor our fathers and mothers, but what does honor mean, and what makes a person honorable. Ralph Waldo Emerson wrote: "The purpose of life is not to be happy. It is to be useful, to be honorable, to be compassionate, to have it make some difference that you have lived and lived well." I think that really sums up what the Bible has to say about honorable living. I hope you agree through the following verses.

Honour - 1. honesty, fairness, or integrity in one's beliefs and actions; 2. a source of credit or distinction; 3. high respect, as for worth, merit, or rank; 4. such respect manifested; 5. high public esteem, fame, glory; 6. the privilege of being associated with or receiving a favour from a respected person or group

Philippians 4:8 ~ Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable – if anything is excellent or praiseworthy – think about such things.

Colossians 1:9-10 ~ For this reason, since the day we heard about you, we have not stopped praying for you and asking God to fill you with the knowledge of His will through all spiritual wisdom and understanding. And we pray this in order that you may live a life worthy of the Lord and may please Him in every way: bearing fruit in every good work, growing in the knowledge of God.

Ephesians 4:1-3 ~ As a prisoner for the Lord, then, I urge you to live a life worthy of the calling you have received. Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love. Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace.

Romans 12:10-21
~ Be devoted to one another in brotherly love. Honor one another above yourselves. Never be lacking in zeal, but keep your spiritual fervor, serving the Lord. Create a mini album using digital products. This can something as simple as a tag album or you can use a pre-made digital hybrid album like what we sell in the shop.

Here is my example using a Maya Road chipboard album with a few acrylic pages added. I printed the digital paper and elements I wanted to use and added them to the album as normal.

Supply List Challenge - By Beth-W (Beth)

I collect patterned paper like it is going out of style. I do most of my shopping online and find that I have to purchase any and all patterned paper that I like or think I may "need" later. It is multiplying in my stash like rabbits procreating. For this challenge, you can't use cardstock- only patterned paper. I find that if I take the time to search my patterned paper stash, I have something I can use on my pages without using up my cardstock. You must use at least 5 pieces of patterned paper(remember you can flip a one-sided piece of pp over and use the white side and lots of double-sided papers have a usable backside), foam (there are tons of companies that make foam embellishments and you can very inexpensively buy foam sheets at the craft store and die cut your own accents) and epoxy accents. Don't have any epoxy accents? Make you own by adding Diamond Glaze or Alene's Paper Glaze to a piece of paper or chipboard. It will look exactly like an epoxy embellishment and saves money.

Trends & Techniques Challenge - By katarria (Kathy)

Instead of going current & trendy this month, you’ll need to dig out an old line from your stash. Given the current state of our economy, I can’t think of anything more trendy than saving money by using up something you’ve had stashed away! The minimum requirement here is to use two older lines. The example below uses Love, Elsie patterned paper by KI Memories, translucent flowers by Making Memories, and a chipboard arrow from an old Bisous line.
