Meet Liz of Sweet Digi Scraps!

Our featured designer this month is Liz!  Her store, Sweet Digi Scraps, is full of fabulous designs for all occasions.  The CT has really enjoyed creating with her beautiful kits and I hope you have fun getting to know her better and seeing how versatile her designs are.  She has graciously answered many questions and I think you will be intrigued by her answers!

1. When did you start designing and selling digital scrapbooking kits?

This month actually marks my 2 year birthday for Sweet Digi Scraps. It was just two years ago that I found out about digital scrapbooking AND created my first design. After that first kit, I became totally hooked and haven't looked back!

2. What is your favorite part of digital scrapbooking?

THE UNDO BUTTON!!!!!  Seriously, when I paper scrapped, I always had a mess from wanting to move something around after putting the glue on...and it was just like, "Oh well.. I guess it's stuck."  But with Digital, I can totally change everything around 100 times, change my pictures to match the kits, you name it.  But I love that once I mess up and make a cut too close, I can always restart!

3. Do you have a favorite kit that you've created?

Wow, that's hard. Each new kit becomes a new favorite, because I am always trying to broaden my horizons and think outside of the box a bit. But as of right now my absolute favorite would have to be my kit called Jokes On You . Totally had a blast creating that kit, and I mean seriously, it's like the ONLY April Fools kit out on the market!

4. What has been your best-selling kit here at ACOT?

It's a total tie! My absolute best seller of all time recently retired. It was called Boys Aloud, but as of right now, I have a quite a few that are tied for the top spot.


5. Do you scrapbook too?

Oh, TOTALLY!!  I enjoy scrapping to the highest degree.  It's my release.  I love preserving my children's moments (I have 4 babes) and scrapping the life memories so that when they are older they can look back and see everything that happened.

 I currently have 5 books in the works right now.  Now just for 24 hours more each day so that I can get all of them caught up!


6. Aside from being an awesome digital designer, what other hobbies do you enjoy?

Aside from scrapping and photography, I love spending time with my kiddos and being a kid.  Anything I can do with them for fun is a great joy.  From going on outings, to staying at home and doing some arts and crafts and creating banana splits together, it's just so much fun.

When I am taking time for myself, I love to sing, read, draw and watch LOST any time that is on!  I am totally addicted to that show.


7. Show us your newest kit addition to your store. What inspired it? Is it on sale?

My newest created kit is called Tropical Passion.  It is currently on sale (as is my entire store this month) for 20% off.

The dream I have of going to the actual beach - reaching out to the ocean inspired this kit.  I have always wanted to do a Romantic Get-away with my DH and now that I have created the perfect kit to scrap that time.. maybe it will push him to take me.

8. How do you get your inspiration for your kits? Do you start with your own photos and create kits to fit them, or do you choose color combinations first, or themes, or do the ideas just pop into your head?

 Wow, okay my ideas are totally sporadic.  Sometimes it's some colors that just jump at me and say USE ME.  Sometimes I will hear a few lyrics to a song through my headphones and it will inspire a theme for a kit.  Sometimes it will be something that we do and I have taken pictures for that inspires me.

I find inspiration for design in just about any and everything you can think of.  I am probably the only crazy woman in my area that will take my camera with me to the store...just in case I see something that inspires me.


9. What are your favorite digital elements to create?

I would have to say paper pieced items.  I love to create a digital kit that resembles the paper scrapping style.  I love to layer up pieces of paper to create elements.


10. Can you give us any hints about designs you have in the works?

Well, I have a few summer kits in the works, a collab with the fabulous Jady Day Studio, a 4th of July kit, and also a few others on the list of to do items. But most definitely be looking out for the summer fun kits.  Definitely, they have been tons of fun working on!!

Sara says, “I love just about everything Liz (Sweet Digi Scraps) puts out, but I'm especially enjoying her new Take My Breath Away line (can't you just hear the song running through your head when you read that! LOL!).  I really wanted to find a way to play with this paper with the big, bold flowers, and the mat was just the perfect addition to balance out the busy-ness of the paper.”

Angie states, “I found that working with Liz's templates and her great It's Primary My Dear products were just perfect for this picture of Ben and his b-day last year.  She has some wonderful products in the shoppe so go check them out!

Diana created a darling HYBRID layout by combining both digital and paper products! She simply printed blocks of patterned papers and a few embellishments, arranged them on peper and accented with a couple buttons and glitter.
