Questions:
Can I use my 2x2 dies in the Revolution?
You may use the smaller 2"x2" dies in the new Revolution system. You may actually use up to four of these smaller dies at a time by placing them on the bottom plate of the Revolution tool with the tab parts facing inward towards each other.
How can I use other manufacturer's dies with the Epic Six?
Everything needed to cut QuicKutz, Sizzix Sizzlits™, Cuttlebug™, and BossKut™ dies is offered with the Epic Six tool.
To cut
low-profile chemically etched metalic dies (
such as our own QuicKutz dies), you will need to use the included "Cutting" platform. To cut, place your die on the platform with your paper or desired material you wish to cut on top of the the die. You will then need to place the cutting mat on top and then roll the platform through the tool using the turn lever on the side of the Epic Six. If you have concerns with the clarity of cut, you may wish to position your die on the sides of the platform rather than in the center.
To cut those dies that are slightly thicker than low-profile metallic chemically etched dies (such as Sizzlits™ and Cuttlebug™ dies), you may follow the same steps above using the "Embossing/Cutting" platform. If your die is not cutting well, you may add one to three sheets of regular paper underneath the die to act as a shim to increase the cutting force (only as needed).
Steel-rule dies and thicker dies manufactured by other companies (such as Sizzix™) may likewise be able to be cut with the Epic Six so long as the width does not exceed the 6" opening of the tool or 13" length of the cutting mat, but will require a second cutting mat (additional cutting mat not included with purchase of Epic Six tool) . To cut these dies, you will follow the same cutting steps outlined above but with using a second cutting mat as the base in place of a cutting platform.
Please note that while the Epic Six will cut other manufacturer's dies, QuicKutz cannot support dies or other products manufactured by other companies and is not responsible for any potential damage caused by using other products with our company's tools.
How do I die cut with the Revolution 12" Platform?
For a friendly visual guide on using the 12" Platform, please click
here.
Once the standard 4" platform has been removed:
1. Place die(s) with design side up inside indentation on the magnetic 12" platform. Nothing should overlap or hang off the edge
2. Place paper pattern side down, then place 12" cutting mat over die(s).
3. Hold paper and cutting mat in place and push the platform into the rollers of the Revolution.
4. Spin handle to roll platform through tool. Remove die cut from paper.
Caution: Please note there are no stops on the 12" platform to prevent it from sliding out of the Revolution during use.
How do I use GooseBumpz embossing dies in my Revolution?
To use QuicKutz GooseBumpz in your Revolution, please make sure you are following these steps:
1. Die cut the letter or shape to be embossed.
2. Place the cut-out letter or shape face up on the raised plate of the GooseBumpz die.
3. Fold over the other side of the die so that the embossing die is closed onto the cut-out item.
4. Place the folded GooseBumpz die(s) on the magnetic plate of the Revolution tool, completely within the indentation.
5. Place the embossing mat over the die(s).
NOTE: DO NOT use the thicker cutting mat with GoooseBumpz embossing dies!
6. Spin handle to roll platform through tool. Stop when pressure eases.
NOTE: DO NOT force the handle to turn if there is a strong resistance. This could damage your tool.
I accidentally made a die cut upside-down on my Revolution and cut the metal platform. Will my Revolution still work?
Aside from cosmetic damage with that the imprint that will be ever-present, cutting a die face-down and leaving an imprint on the platform should not effect the performance of the tool or the incorrectly used die. They should both be fine.
My Revolution cutting mat is getting scratched when I make cuts. Is this normal?
Once the die passes through the Revolution Tool, the plastic mat will be imprinted with the die you are cutting. Please be assured that this is normal and that you are not doing anything wrong. The cutting mat will continue to be marked with whatever you are cutting, though this should not be a cause of concern. You will be able to continue using the cutting mat for some time, even though it will eventually appear to be marked-up with multiple patterns. If you feel the performance of cut you are receiving is being effected by your mat becoming overly marred, replacement cutting mats are available at your local or preferred retailer. Again, even if the mat appears marred, you should be able to continue using it until you see the actual cutting performance is noticeable.
IMPORTANT: We would additionally suggest that as you use the cutting mat, it be rotated from side to side with alternating cuts so as not to favor one particular mat surface. Doing so will allow your cutting mat to last longer and prevent it from becoming warped.
Why doesn't my 12" Revolution Platform have teeth like the regular platform?
Unlike the standard 4" platform, there are no teeth on the underside of the 12" platform. The teeth are not necessary due to the length of the platform.
