Ho! Ho! Ho! Merry Christmas! Can you believe it? The kids are just getting back to school, but Fall, Halloween, and Christmas decorations are all around us in the stores! I already have my fall decorations out, a few Halloween goodies hidden in the closet, and I'm knee deep in Christmas card making! If you haven't gotten started, It is time to buckle down and get working on those Christmas cards and holiday projects!
There are so many great new holiday lines out this year! Two of my favorites are from My Mind's Eye: Colorful Christmas and The Merry Days of Christmas. Both lines offer beautiful patterned papers and die-cut embellishments in fabulous colors! The Merry Days of Christmas offers a more traditional color scheme of green and red with plaids and polka dots. The Colorful Christmas collection is a more whimsical line using characters and non-traditional vibrant pink, orange and green papers. Throughout the projects that I've created, you'll notice that I've used both lines together. The papers are different, but very versatile and work together beautifully.
Using the Merry Days of Christmas collection. I created this layout highlighting my kids favorite toys from last year. My daughter, Lauren, desperately wanted the Hannah Montana sound stage that played music. My son, Colin, only wanted motorcycles! They drove me crazy asking for two months before Christmas if I thought Santa would bring them. Of course, I had to create a layout to remember the moment that they actually got them!
Using the new Cricut Winter Wonderland cartridge, I cut out the embellishment block on the right which I used to layer all of the my die-cut embellishments and the adorable bear. I took out my trusty sewing machine, Martha Stewart punch, and pearls to add some texture and dimension!
"Twas the Night Before Christmas"
No holiday would be complete without traditions! On Christmas Eve every year, our family always makes cut out sugar cookies for Santa. Since I was always in the middle of baking, I never really got any terrific photos until last year. This layout, shows some of the fun photos and the sprinkles that are covering my entire kitchen! I used several die-cut embellishments from the Merry Days of Christmas accessory sheet and added bling, ribbon, and pearls to finish it off.
A card using the Merry Days of Christmas collection. I've used several die-cuts from the accessory sheet as well as cutting out several patterns from the paper. I've used a lot of ink, foam tape, and sewing to tie it all together.
The next four cards are all created using the Colorful Christmas collection! This collection also offers beautiful sticker borders, ribbons, and brads in addition to the vibrant papers and die-cut accessory sheet. I've layered several of the border stickers throughout the cards with the die-cuts and patterned papers.
