I had the pleasure of working with Shabby Green Door line of products this month and I really cooked up a lot of fun projects and just in time for my hubby's birthday. E, as he is known to our friends, is the resident cook and a man who is hard to buy for. With these papers from Shabby Green Door, I was able to make a few things for his birthday and add a page to the Cook's Album I am doing for him.
For E's Cook's Album, I wanted to dedicate the layouts to all of our favorite meals. Using the Shabby Green Door paper with recipe cards made this very easy. The recipe cards for this fish dish slip under the strip across the layout.
Living in Florida, we get lots of company, especially when the cold winter breezes start to blow up North. My hubby takes great pride and joy in serving a different meal each time someone visits or cooking meals they have had that they request again. To make it easier for him to keep track, I designed this recipe box that serves that purpose. Rather than containing recipes, the box has a card for each guest or couple, the dates of their visits, what E cooked for them and some food preferences. Shall we make a card for you?
The next gift I created for E for his upcoming birthday was a recipe card holder. My husband has tons of cook books but far more recipes he has placed onto cards for easier access. Most of these recipes are at least two cards long. To construct the recipe holder, I cut chipboard squares, covered them with the beautiful paper, trimmed them with rick rack and punched holes for O rings to link the two. Each one has two food shaped clips that I glued top and bottom to hold recipes. I hung these from a vintage hanger and he can hang this from either one of the knobs over the stove or from a cabinet for easier reading.
For a final gift, I created this Wine Journal out of a notebook. I covered the front with papers and wine bottle sticker and did the same for the inside pages. The notebook only had three divided sections so I used the sticker tabs to create more. We love to attend wine tastings and friends often bring us bottles of wines. This Journal will help us keep track not only of the ones we liked but what foods we had with them.
I coated the three gifts with Liquitex Matte Gel as this seals them and prevents water or steam from affecting the projects. Hoping my honey likes the things I have created. These were a joy for me to create.
