A little bit of something for everything is exactly what I thought when I first saw these two lines by Dream Street Papers! I love warm neutral colors with a splash of bold, like the orange in Sam and the red in Merry & Bright. I knew that Sam would be perfect for fun outdoor themes, such as hiking or camping, as well as for fun fall activities, Thanksgiving, and back to school photos. And, of course, Merry & Bright would be perfect for Christmas, but of course it could also work really well for vintage or heritage layouts by using the non-Christmas patterns.
Sam I am!
For my first project I created a layout about a recent trip my family took to a local state park. The colors in Sam of course went perfectly with the outdoor theme. I decided to stretch myself a bit and attempt a 2 page layout. I used four 4x6 and three 3x3 photos. I used a patchwork type design on the right hand side and added some fun techniques to the squares. I distressed the edges of the papers with the back side of my craft knife. I use a needle to poke holes around the edge of several of the squares from the back side using a ruler to keep the lines straight and then I lightly sanded them with sand paper on the front side to let the white core of the paper show through. I added owls to the orange squares that I hand cut from the Woo-hoo paper, and embellished them with the Basic Grey pearls. I used one of the arrows from the die cut set and then I used the negative of the die cut to create two more arrows from scraps of the Seasons of Change paper. I also used the Zig Zag punch to create some fun border strips.
