Meet butterfly843/Jenn

Our featured Guest for September

Please join me in welcoming Jenn/butterfly843 as our featured guest this month.  You have probably had a chance to meet her on the message boards or in the gallery.  In case you haven't or would like to get to know her better, here is a bit about Jenn and here is her gallery.

Tell us about yourself.

I turn the big 30 in april and am actually looking forward to my birthday. I have been married to my dh, Kyle for 6 years. We got married in 2003 when we lived in Vegas. I am born and raised here on Long Island in NY. Lived here most of my life and love being so close to the beach. I have been a retail manager for 9 years, most of the days its great except when you get those crazy customers. I love shopping, especially for shoes and purses. When I am off from work I love watching court shows on tv, especially The People's Court. We have a spoiled dog named Princess who lives up to her name. I love to decorate for the holidays and Christmas is my favorite holiday. I have already started christmas shopping and will work on some christmas crafts soon.

Tell us about your family.

I am the oldest of 4, have 1 sister and 2 brothers. I am also the oldest cousin on both sides of my family. I am close with most of my family and love when we have get togethers. I am very close to my sister, we love to go shopping together.

How long have you been scrapbooking and what got you started?

I have been scrapping for a little over 7 years.  I began after I got engaged and wanted to do something special for a wedding album. I went to michaels and discovered scrapping. I then found some great lss in vegas. I even work for a scrapbook company for a little while when I lived in vegas.

What inspires you?

I get a lot of inspiration from looking at the gallery and scrapbook magazines.

How do your family and friends feel about your scrapbooking?

They love it.  I have even gotten a few of them started and they request homemade cards and albums. Even some of my dh's friends ask to see my albums when they come over our house which surprises me.

How did you find A Cherry on Top?

I shopped at the store and got an email that they were starting a message board so I joined right in the beginning and have been here since.

How long have you been a part of the ACOT community?

I have been here since it began and so happy that I decided to join when I got the email about the board.

How did you pick your screen name?

I love butterflies and I took the numbers from my birthday.

Do you have a favorite manufacturer/product line?

I love everything Bo Bunny puts out and only use Bazzill cardstock.

What scrapbooking item can’t you live without?

I love my Prima flowers, even though I think I collect them more than I use them.  I also love the new Smooch Inks, they are great to color embellishments with.

What is a favorite technique that you like to use?

Lately I have been back into stamping and have been using embossing more on my cards I make.  I stamped years ago and then stopped for a few years and recently go re hooked.

When and where do you create your layouts?

Usually nights and weekends in my scraproom. When we moved I told dh I needed to have a room to scrap in. Usually anytime I am home I try to do a little scrapping, I even stamp sometimes while we watch tv.

What is a favorite layout of yours and why?

My Hooked on Pink ornament is my favorite, because it highlights one of my favorite ornaments.

How would you define your style?

I have a simple style, but I do like to try out different embellishments.

What is your ultimate goal in scrapbooking?

To have my family be happy that they have all these great photos and memories of things we have done and I can't wait to start albums when we have kids so when they get older they can see and read stories of when they were younger.

Any other hobbies?

I love to cook and bake.  I am totally hooked on food network.  I learned at a young age to cook from my grandma and have loved it since.
