When I found out that I was going to be lucky enough to work with Bo-Bunny for my reveal this month I was beyond excited. I love Bo-Bunny and all the awesome papers and embellishments they have, but when I found out it was going to be there new Kitchen Spice and Delilah line that was headed my way, words can describe how happy I was. The Kitchen Spice line makes me think of my grandmother, all warm and happy and I can just smell her baking cookies and other yummies in the kitchen. The Delilah line has lush warm fall colors of orange, pink and brown that are all my favorites.
When this line of papers arrived on my door step, I knew a recipe box of sorts was going to be my first project. I found a cute little box at the dollar store and I was all set to begin. I wanted to use as many of the papers as I could on the box, so I divided it into sections and cut and covered. Each section was applied with Mod Podge and covered with it as well so it can be wiped off a little easier. The letters on the front were also covered with liquid crystals to give them a glossy finish. This box was made for my daughter who is 15, but loves to cook. She is always trying different combinations and I thought she could put the recipes that worked and that we like into the box. I finished it just in time for her birthday and she was very happy to get it.
I wanted to do a cozy warm layout for this picture of my daughter wrapped up in MY blanket, as she always is. I wanted the layout to have a warm cozy almost quilt like feel, so I cut a circle of chipboard and covered it in all of my leftover scrap from the Kitchen Spice line and then layered on the rest of my leftover pieces. After adding some flowers from their sticker sheet and some flowers( from the Delilah line) , all I had to do was add some journaling, which I did using one of the recipe card cut-outs.
The wonderful warm and happy colors of the Delilah line put a smile on my face. I would love to use them for awesome pictures of my girls raking or jumping in piles of leaves....but alas, we live in Florida and we do not have a real "Fall" season, so I had to improvise.
My first layout is of a picture I took while watching the sunrise in Cocoa beach this summer. Though, it is not exactly a "fall" photo I felt the colors really popped on these papers. For this layout, I cut out the center of the die-cut paper and fringed the edge on half of it. I added a glittered swirl, and one of the flowers from the sticker sheet. For the flower, I cut around the edge of the second flower and added some pop dots under it for some added dimension, and I added some stickles.....because I always seem to add them.
This layout was inspired by the wild and crazy things my youngest daughter does...she is always coming up with something unusual. This time it was having to wear a swim mask everytime she was asked to clean anything because she hated the smell of the cleaner. The paper in the upper left hand corner are actually rolled paper, I have seen done a little more recently so I thought I would try this technique. It is actually very easy. I cut my paper into 2 inch strips and rolled, then cut to the right length and adhered.
This photo of my husband walking my daughter out of her eight grade dance may be a little dark and blurry, but it was a very important picture to me. It was the first time he was seeing how "grown-up" she was and he had to go into the dance to get her. Your photos do not have to be perfect pictures to make great pages, they just have to have a memory or meaning to go with them. So, do not toss a photo, or not scrap it just because it is not "perfect" because if you do you may be tossing precious moments.
Thank you to ACOT for letting me play with the following awesome products:
