Fancy Pants Rough and Tough

Boy Pages and Much Much More

I was happy to work with Fancy Pants Rough and Tough line this month because I just love the colors and even though I don't have a boy, I thought this line was so much fun! It reminds me of school and youthful antics (from girls or boys). I paired it with some doodlebug glittered paper and brads, some WRMK buttons and some basic black thickers, including my new favorites, Delight fabric thickers. These babies are great because they are small enough to make longer titles and still large enough to be clearly visible. Plus, you get a TON of letters in the pack. Just look at how many A's you get!

I started with the obvious boy page. This line was created with boys in mind and lends itself very easily to fun pages about them. I used some pics of my nephew. I really only had enough photos of my nephew for one page and I wanted to take advantage of the really 'boy' themed papers. Therefore, I cut out the corner of the blue 'Boys will be Boys' paper and used it as a mat for the photos. I used my craft knife to cut around the letters so I could slip the photos underneath, and I also colored in some of the designs on the letters to make it stand out more as the title. Then I used the craft knife to cut around the cloud and star to slide the matted photo piece under. Finally, I put some stickles on the stars in the design to give it a little more oomph.

Next I used mostly the scraps from the first page to create this fun page about my daughter eating mussels and escargot. I used a sketch from the Sketchy Thursday's blog for this one. The sketch had one photo in the middle with strips underneath and the title and journaling below that. I decided to turn it up a notch by using this fun bordered paper. I covered the blue border in diamond glaze to give it just a little something more.

Next I wanted to make a funky fun page to go with my daughter's marker antics. Another thing that I loved about this line of papers is that it looks like doodling. So I really wanted to do some doodling of my own to go with it! The back of the checkerboard paper had a frame around the edge. I cut that out to use on another project, then doodled my own border on the orange cardstock. This is where you can really see how great these thickers are - look at how long that title is and it all fits on there! AND I still have plenty of letters left over.

Next I moved on to altering this pencil case. I wanted to take advantage of the star paper to make a 'super star' school themed pencil box. This was perhaps the easiest altered item I have ever done! I wanted to make this for my DD because she likes to keep her travel crayons in it, but it was very plain. Since this is for a 4 yr old, I wanted to keep it simple so there are not many things to fall off or get damaged, so I used stickers for the titling. This is just a simple sliding pencil box from the dollar store. I used mod podge to adhere the paper around the outside part. I didnt do anything to the white part that slides inside, because I didnt want the paper to get stuck when the box is used. If I had a better color pencil box I would probably have left the button off too because that will probably be the first thing to fall off. It is just glued on top of the existing snap with a glue dot. I also used stickles on the stars.

Since I had about half of the star paper left, I wanted to use that to make another school themed page. But this time I wanted to make it a little more 'girly' since my DD is in a flowery dress with a princess backpack. So, I used the glittered paper background to make the colors pop and also make it a little more 'girly'. I used fabritac glue to adhere the central square to the glittered paper, because glittered paper can be hard to get adhesive to stick to. I also used stickles on the stars.

Finally I used some scraps to make two birthay cards to keep on hand for boys in DD's class. This first card was really simple. The jorunaling spot is a printable from YMBD scrapbooking, the stamps are magnetic poetry. I used my circle punch to make the scallops.

This second card was so much fun! I had these circle punches laying on my desk from the scallops on the other card and I thought it would be fun to make balloons out of them. I used buttons to anchor the thread down, and used pop dots to make the balloons stand out. The journaling spot is a printable from ymbd scrapbooking and the stamps are magnetic poetry.
