When I originally requested the Little Yellow Bicycle Autumn Bliss line, I guess I thought I was still living on Colorado, or maybe I assumed it would be fall here in VA by this time, but I was wrong on both counts. So, I kept putting it off, thinking the leaves would change anyday, but they didn't. I started to panic a bit, but then realized, hey this paper is gorgeous and I can use it for anything, NOT just for fall. So even if you are like I used to be and live in a place where you don't have four seasons, don't pass over this line quickly but take a deeper look. The colors are just so vibrant and the words of family, thankfulness and gratitude can be used anywhere!
For this layout I had a die cut with some leaves on it, but I needed to adjust a bit, so I cut off part of the paper and used the EK sucess Binder punch to create a different look for the die cut. I also hole punched around alternating scallops to bring in some of the green to the diecut. I then cut rectangles from four different papers and layered them around my black and white photo. Then I alternated two matching colors and hand sewed along the border edges. Covered a chipboard heart with paper, then grabbed coordinating stickles and outlined the heart and used some to highlight the details from the gorgeous paper. Finally I added a cardstock tag. They are adhesive with pop dot type of material and I just love how they added some dimension to the page. Finally, I added the title using the "beautiful" overlay, with some tiny Adornit stickers.
This next layout I did happened to be one of just Cole. I had it kind of fancy and lets just say he did not like it looking so "girly". Oh vey. So, back to the drawing board I went. Tried to use a manly black which actually looked quite good against the oranges and blues from this line. Thankfully when I showed it to him after school, he said it was much better. Good grief! LOL
For this layout, I wanted to use the photo mat for a journaling tag instead. So I practiced on a regular piece of paper and once I got the font, size and placement right, I taped the photo mat over the paper and reprinted it. I found a kokopelli clip art online and printed it out onto a strip of orange patterned paper. Then I placed all those over some black paper strips. Added a circle to make the kokopelli pop, and added some black doodle dots to try to make the edges stand out.
I LOVE these frames. So cool, and from the moment I got them, I knew I wanted to use multiple ones on a page. I wish my mother in law would let me take more pictures of her, because I probably would have used the whole package on the page. For this page, I used a 12x12 swirl from this line and placed it on a kraft background. I then found pictures that would work in my frames. They were not taken in the orientation I wanted to use the frames in, so I backed them with patterned papers and then added the pictures. I then cut three paper strips and distressed the top edge of each one, then layered them. I then lined up some of the chipboard word stickers along the bottom of the frames and added lace to the top so it would all look even and uniform. Throw in some little embellies and a title and the page was done.
Finally I just loved the neutral colors so much, I decided to make an inspiration wall hanging for my scrappy room.
