Only Eleven Weeks til the Holidays
Around this time every year, I get the first twinges of panic. Will I get everything done in time for the holidays? Will I get the cards made for the special people in our lives, will I come up with some fun decorations for the holiday table and will I be able to find or make those special gifts that elicit memories of holidays past and present? This whole painic mode has lost it's edge this year thanks to some of the most beautiful papers and embellishments I have seen in quite some time: SEI's Christmas Mint Collection.
I always try to make something for my family that we can look at during the holidays that captures the memories of the holidays past. This year, the Bo Bunny Chocolate MyWord Cascade Album provided the perfect means for me to do this. It goes so perfectly with the SEI Christmas Mint colors and I really like how sanding the edges pops the different edges to the pages. Adding the ribbons to a few of the edges provides that holiday festivity to the album and I can put many small pictures in the mini album and journal without overcrowding.
Every year, we have a sit down dinner party for a few of our friends. Usually, we have this between Thanksgiving and Christmas and I set the table with our pretty holiday linens and our best china. I try to make something special as a place card that also doubles as a small momento of the evening. I had been running out of ideas until I found these little wooden trees that, once assembled, measure about 6x6. They were the perfect solution and the Chocolate Mint papers made them each so festive.
While I don't make all my holiday cards, I do try to make the ones for our close friends and family. We live several hundred miles from all our relatives but my sister and her family so I always like to include a photo or two in a card. Last year, right after the holidays, I found these 4x4 plain red mitten shaped cards and put them away for this year. I used these mitten shaped cards as a template and traced them onto folded sheets of the SEI Christmas Mint papers. I cut the patterned papers slighly smaller than the original card and inserted these into the red shapes. I punched two holes in the side of the cards that were scored and threaded a festive holiday ribbon to join the inserts to the cards themselves. Adding the lovely little embellishments, stamps and using the SEI ink, I was able to create fun photo cards for those special people on our card list.
So, don't panic just because there are only eleven or so weeks left til the holidays. The solution is a click away right here at A Cherry on the Top with SEI and Bo Bunny!
