I have been thinking about getting an embossing system for a while now but could not decide what kind to get. When I saw this adorable new Sizzix Texture Boutique embossing machine
and the great variety of embossing folders that go with it I knew I had found the one I wanted. I was thrilled when ACOT gave me the opportunity to test it out this month. I got two sets of embossing folders to go with it.
I started out playing with the texture folders on some scraps of cardstock. I thought it would be fun to compare three different patterns on the same color. This card has three different embossed patterns on black cardstock. It looks so elegant that I decided to make it into a wedding card. (I don't know why the photo looks crooked. It doesnt look that way in person.)
Here I used gradient colors of blue and varying texztures.
I used the same technique on this page, embossing the three panels with different textures. I included a second close up here to show the textures better. The embossing folders that go with this machine are a maximum of 4x6 inches. But I ran these strips through twice, once in each direction, matching the patterns up for the second run. They don't match up perfectly so I used the photos on this page to hide the seams.
For the medallion, I cut the flower shape out using my Slice, then I used a little bit of adhesive to keep the die cut centered on the embossing folder. After the embossing was complete I gently sanded the shape to reveal the colored core of the coredinations cardstock.
I have to admit when I ordered this product I thought I was going to be embossing patterns, I had no idea how much more fun I was going to have. When I saw this frame embossing folder, I had no idea what I was going to do with it. Now, it's my favorite folder! On this page I embossed the frame, inked it to bring out the embossed parts, then cut it out.
I used the same technique with the ink on this card.
Finally, on this page I embossed the kraft pieces before inking them with ranger distress ink. I love the way it echoes the sand at the beach.
