7Gypsies Victoria and Avignon 6 comments

Two new lines with different styles!

Posted by SarahA

When I saw the new 7Gypsies lines, I was drawn to them, but honestly, had never scrapped with them before. I  was excited to try something a little out of my comfort range this month and had a lot of fun doing it. The papers have so much detail that the layouts and projects really came together quickly and easily!

Gift Box
The very first thing I noticed when I got these papers was the cute little bird cage on one of the papers in the Victoria line. I knew I wanted to cut it out and use it as the focal point for something and this gift box was the perfect home for it. I used a Cosmo Cricket box as the base and coated it with Mod Podge to adhere the papers, then used my trusty Basic Grey file set to sand the edges. Behind the little open window, I added a piece from the 8x8 paper pack with a design that fit perfectly. I then used foam adhesive to mount the bird cage and added some Prima crystal stems behind it. I used one of the stickers in the 8x8 paper pack for the butterfly and topped it off with some pearls. My Mom loved receiving this box with her Mother's Day gift inside!

Enjoy
I said before these papers have a lot of detail, and the one I used as a background for this layout was no exception. All of the papers are double sided, with the "B sides" all being a monochromatic polka dot pattern. I used one of these pieces as a large mat to ground my photos, then added a scalloped edge for good measure. The butterflies were already on the paper, so I used a coordinating sheet and sticker from the 8x8 pack to cut out duplicates and used foam adhesive to give them some dimension. The Victoria line also included some brads, so I used the flocked butterfly brads to add to this layout. The chipboard letters were so pretty for the title! The tags are stickers from the 8x8 pack that I tucked under the photos for little journaling spots. I tore a piece of the paper out from the upper corner and backed the empty space with more of the B side polka dots, then used a needle and crochet thread to "stitch" it back up.

Cool City Find
I'm always on the look out for fun spots to take photos, and luckily my husband has a job where he drives around our town a lot and can scope out some locations for me, too! He took me to this fun building and the Avignon line had just the right colors and designs to compliment these  photos. The photos had so much detail in them and I didn't want to lose focus on that, so I cut a few small strips to layer under the photos. The turquoise strip really helped to bring a little pop of color to the layout (and happened to match my shirt perfectly!). I punched a few scalloped circles to back the butterflies I also punched from the patterned papers. Some staples, black pearls and an office supply tag (I love those lately), helped add a little of the urban look to the layout and it was done!

US Army
The Avignon line is perfectly suited for a heritage layout, too, and I had been wanting to scrap these photos of my Grandfather for quite some time. I loved the look of the old handwriting, so I used that sheet as my main background, then matted the photos on a larger piece of cardstock. The postage stamp edge punch was the perfect heritage/masculine punch for some strips I layered on this layout.  I used some of the fun new puffy glitter Thickers for my title. I did have to leave empty space for my journaling until I can get to my parents' house and search for a news paper article that tells exactly what my Grandfather did in the Army during the Korean War. For now, though, I was really happy with the way this line showcased these precious photos so well!
