Granola line - not Just for Boys!

Basic Grey - Granola line - Not Just for Boys!!

The first time I saw this Granola by Basic Grey, I KNEW I would love it!  If you've been in my gallery, you've probably noticed that I tend to scrap using a lot of neutral colors, and my favorite color is blue.  I was a bit worried however that I would be limited to just boy layouts using these papers.  Since I don't have my own kids yet, my scrap subjects are pretty diverse.  Some of my favorites are layouts about my cats, my boyfriend, and friends' weddings.  Recently I've been taking photos for some of my friends though, and this first layout showcases one of the portraits I took of my friend Sarah's son.  I really liked how the colors in this line play off the outdoor portrait and match so well with the blue and brown in the photo.

To be a Boy

Last month we went to my friend Rob's wedding in Long Island, NY.  The bridesmaids were wearing navy blue dresses, and so I wanted to use some of this line for wedding layouts.  Even though the photos didn't show the navy blue, I knew the color scheme would fit right in with what I've already created for them.  I wanted to put focus on the 5x7 I took during the ceremony, so I used the color version of that photo.  I converted two of the smaller photos to black and white because I didn't want the gold color to overpower the shades of blue in the layout.  I love how many chipboard shapes were included in this line because I like using a lot of embellishments when I scrapbook.  To add a touch of elegance, I also added some KaiserCraft pearls to this layout.  I was SO EXCITED to see that KaiserCraft has a new line of pearls called 'Basics' because the 99 cent price can't be beat!!

Just Married

I really loved how the wedding layout turned out, and so I decided to use this line again when I took Jess's Mini Maze Album Class during ACOT's CSI Crop.  The small size of this album makes it just right for a brag book or small album to carry around.  Since Lindsey and Rob just got married last month, I know a lot of their friends and family have been asking to see wedding photos and thought this would make a great gift for them!  I found that the element stickers were perfect for embellishing the pages since I wanted to keep the inner pages flat.  I used the bulkier embellishments (chipboard and pearls) on the cover for some dimension.  I am so excited about how this album turned out and love that I only used one piece of cardstock for the inner pages!

Maze Album - Ordinary Miracle

Below are two of the pages from within the album.  You'll see that I used the lyrics from their wedding song as the journaling inside.  When I'm creating gifts, I like to be pretty generic with the journaling so that I know the recipient will feel comfortable showing them off!  All of the pages to this album are shown in my gallery.

I had a lot of leftover chipboard and element stickers, so I chose to use up some of my scraps making cards.  The KaiserCraft pearls are a quick and easy way to dress things up and make everything look classy.  I distressed my edges to add a little bit of extra dimension.

Card - Bend When the Wind Blows

Card - Thank You

I've been wanting to make a keychain to hold our spare house key for awhile now.  The Bazzill Chips were just the right size.  First I painted the chipboard, then adhered the chipboard stripes.  I used pop dots to adhere the flower and then dressed things up with pearls and some of the velvet ribbon

Keychain - Spare

Lastly, I couldn't resist using the last of this line to scrap these cute photos of my friends' cat, Static.  She's just growing out of her kitten stages and is one crazy girl!  I love how these papers and chipboard go so well with her coloring and can't wait for them to see this layout of her!  Seriously though - who would have thought boys, weddings, and cats all from the same line?!
