Basic Grey Cappella 17 comments
beyond weddingsPosted by 4peasinourpod A wedding line. Something that I never would even look twice at, having been married for 17 years. So, when Beth and I decided to do a dual reveal, and she picked this line, I thought she had lost all her marbles. (I adore Beth, but let's face it....wedding???). As I have learned from my dear friend...not everything IS what it SEEMS. So here is the deal...Beth and I ordered the same products, and each made 2 layouts for this reveal. It is a fun way to see how two close friends have a totally different take on the same product. Our style is different enough to make this a fun way to reveal new product. The irony is, though....that neither of us did a wedding layout! First I will show you Beth's layouts:
Beth is more girly that I am. The lace doily was PERFECT for her, and she used it on both her layouts. The first layout, she used it as is. She then added the paper ribbons (LOVE those!), cardstock, paper and an alpha, and came up with this phenomonal layout of her daughter. In this second layout, she used the doily in a different way. She turned it over, put it on cardstock, and sprayed it with Glimmer Mist, then dabbed it and let it dry. She then added strips of Basic Grey Cappella, the chipboard shapes and an adorable picture of her and her daughter, and ended up with an amazing layout!
Next was my turn. I also took pictures of my daughters, and made layouts that have a vintage feel to them. On this first layout of Delaney, I took one of the Cappella papers to use as a background. I then took two complimentary papers and cut two sizes of frames, and inserted the picture in the middle. I then embellished using chipboard elements, and a gorgeous posie. My last layout is of Kendall, and again I took many of the elements that I used in my first layout. I fell in love with the paper ribbon, and couldn't wait to use it! I matted the picture on one of the papers with a subtle print, and framed it using the ribbon. I then took one of the journaling/transparancies, added a title and some chipboard elements...and the layout was complete. In conclusion, this is a gorgeous wedding line. However, if there hasn't been a wedding in your past, or in your immediate future, it still is a line that needs to seriously be looked at. I thoroughly enjoyed comparing my style with my dear friend Beth, but I also really enjoyed working with a line that I normally would never have even taken a second look at!
