Cosmo Cricket Material Girl 12 comments

Posted by SarahA

I was really excited to see all of the sewing and crafty lines coming out for CHA a few months ago. One of the cutest ones was Material Girl by Cosmo Cricket. There are a lot of fun patterned papers, including the cards and borders sheet. They also have a sticker element sheet and their super-sticky Ready Set Chip set to coordinate. Since we're all a bunch of crafty geniuses that hang out here, everyone could use something from this line!

First Hair Cut
I've had these haircut pictures for a few months and when I saw the scissor paper they were the first thing I thought of. I saved some of Quinn's hair and wanted to include that. Once I had my patterned paper adhered together, I cut a two inch circle out of it where I wanted to place the lock of hair. On the back of the paper, I used my ATG adhesive to outline the circle. I then used a piece of transparent backing from a sheet of chipboard embellishments and adhered that to make a protective covering for the lock of hair. I used white Delight Thickers and misted them with spray ink to match the layout, then outlined them with a brown Zig pen. The white fabric Thickers in any design are some of my favorites right now because they are so easy to alter with some mist! I cut a tag out from the cards sheet for my journaling.

Sew Sweet
I of course had to do some stiching using this paper, so I first adhered my patterned paper, then stitched a double border around it on the cardstock. I had the perfect matching cardstock by utilizing the Cardstock tab in the shop- so handy! The title, buttons and girl are from the Ready Set Chip chipboard package. There are two girls and several outfits you can choose to dress them up with- how cute! I also used the paper doll outfit border strip, a journaling spot from the card sheet, and some of the red Tiny Type stickers that are very popular right now. They make it so easy to add a cute title or little sentiment!

Sew Crafty
I had to use the "sew"  play on words one more time for a layout about my sewing machine. I love using my machine on layouts- it really doesn't take much time, but makes it look like you did and gives it an extra little special touch. I once again did some border stitching on this one around the blocks of paper. The chipboard set has a ton of cute pieces, so I was sure to include a lot of them on this layout- the thimble, thread spools and the little girl and her outfit are all from this set. The scissors strip is from the border sheet- there are a lot of cute strips on this double-sided sheet. I'm always sure to buy two each of the card and border strip sheets so I can use all of the designs! The yellow patterned paper is designed like a vintage magazine ad page with sewing and notions adds along with vintage pattern examples. It also comes in green and pink and is a fun, vintage touch to your pages!

Happy 50th!
For my mom's birthday last month, I made her a fun canvas banner using scrappy supplies and fabric. The bracket shapes on the left are from the sticker sheet that I adhered, then stitched on the layout. I also used one of the journaling cards for the journaling and embellished with a few of the chipboard flowers topped with a pearl in the center. I had fabric left over from the banner, so I cut a strip with pinking shears, used a running stitch through one side and then pulled the thread tight at the end. I stitched the two short ends together and it made the flower you see for part of the title. I adhered it to the layout with Tacky Glue.

A Good Hobby...
I knew one of the ladies from the vintage ad papers had to be cut out for something. Actually, that was the very first thing I did when I got this pack of papers, even though I had no real plans for it! Then when I saw the border strip that said "A good hobby is cheaper than therapy", I knew that was definitely going on a card and that the lady would be perfect for it! This card came together super fast- I just added a few small rhinestones to the lady and cut the border strip into small pieces. I used a little adhesive to hold them down, then stitched them on and the card was done!

As you can see, there are a variety of photos that can be scrapped and cards and crafts made with this line! I think heritage photos would be perfect for this line as well as some fun spring or family photos! Happy crafting, ladies!
