It's December already and A Cherry On Top would like to introduce our new Guest Paper CT! Please welcome happayscrappay! Rachel got to work with the new Love Me Do line from My Mind's Eye. Check out the wonderful layouts she did with this line and learn more about her! Congrats again Rachel!
Name: Rachel Theall
Family members: I’ve been married to Christopher for almost 7 years. We have 2 boys, Elias age 5 and Phineas age 2.
Pets: We have three dogs that were intended to be our children when we first got married. My husband had a hybrid wolf (gray and red wolf with husky and Australian shepherd) named Esau who is now 13 years old. I had a Lhasa Apso named Bailey who is now 14.5 years old. And, together we got a black pug named Noodle who is now 7 years old. The three dogs are quite the handful with the two children who both came as pleasant surprises. But, with the advanced age of the two oldest, we worry every morning when we get up that one of them won’t get up with us.
Birthday: I was born on the 93rd day of the year, April 3, the exact same day as The Super Outbreak (the day that holds the record for the most tornadoes to touchdown in one day at 148).
Favorite television show? Ok, I’ll admit it, I’m a Survivor Fan. I don’t miss an episode, I’ve met Survivor contestants and I filled out the application to be on the show 3 times but never sent it in. I can do without all other television but Survivor. A close runner-up is So You Think You Can Dance because no, I can’t dance. I also love Mike Rowe and his dirty, dirty jobs.
Favorite movie? I don’t know if I have a favorite but I think Men in Black is fun, Pride and Prejudice is romantic, and Kung Fu Panda never gets old. I love movies that make me laugh and I always fall for potty humor so Will Ferrell and Adam Sandler will always be welcome in my scrapping room.
Name 3 of your favorite candy bars. Butterfinger, 3 Musketeers, Heath
Name 3 musical artists you enjoy. If I turn on the tunes, I listen to the radio or Pandora. I do have a Pink and a Justin Timberlake station so that I get a mix of artists that are similar in style to them but I don’t pay attention to what is being played so much as the great beats being provided for free.
Favorite (NSR) store to shop? I don’t shop unless I’m forced to shop.
Favorite (NSR) magazine publication? The only magazines I get are the Journal of Chemical Education, Science Scope, The Science Teacher, Journal of College Science Teaching, and Science and Children. I detect a theme here….
Name 2 of your favorite colors. When I see either green or yellow on a scrapbook paper, I get weak in the knees. Off the page, I’m still drawn to green but also red and aqua.
Favorite thing to do with your family? Be outside – we love to hike, canoe, and camp. As soon as the boys are old enough, I’ll get them into rock climbing so that I can go back to my favorite sport.
Favorite thing (non-scrap related) to do without your family? Read, but this is dangerous because I can’t stop reading and then it interferes with my family and work and chores. My husband was shocked when I picked up books to read this summer for the first time since we’d been married. I tore through 12 books without stopping. He found it odd.
What's your favorite scrapping tool to use when scrapbooking? I should say my Silhouette since it’s the most expensive but in reality it’s just my finger knife (Fiskars).
Name 3 of your favorite SB companies/lines. Is this a test? I love them all but staring at Pink Paislee, Cosmo Cricket, and probably Basic Gray makes me the happiest. I’ll gladly dive into anything though.
Name 3 of your favorite embellishments to work with. Ribbon/lace, single pearls/bling, flowers/leaves
What are your favorite adhesives? I use liquid glue. Most of my favorite companies I can’t find locally and I always forget to add on to my order so I’m sort of floundering around on the adhesive lately.
What is your top two fave holidays? New Year’s Eve, Christmas
What's the one thing you must have readily available when you sit down to scrap? My laptop
What would you like the ACOT members to know about you? Scrapbooking every evening changed my life. In the past I often felt overwhelmed by the amount of product and the number of pictures I had just sitting there. I no longer feel this way because I make daily progress toward telling the stories of my life and my family. I also often feel worn out from a day at work and scrapbooking perks me up. I am instantly in a better mood when I step into my scrapping area. There are always projects out on the table that I’ll fiddle with for a minute if I need to step away from the continual chaos that having a family brings. I get to really enjoy the memories that I’ve created with my family as I put the pictures into a page. Everyone in the house finds joy in looking at the pages I’ve made about them and friends whom I no longer live close to always know how much I cherish them when they see their faces in the pages I post on-line. Without scrapbooking I would not have met and come to care for the wonderful people who I call my friends. I feel so lucky to be a scrapbooker.
Rachel Theall is a chemistry professor by day, specializing in chemical education, and a scrapbooker by night. She has been scrapbooking for 11 years, starting with a Creative Memories party where she was afraid to cut her pictures and stick them into albums.
Rachel did an amazing job on these four layouts. I love all of her detail work.
