Designing With Julie Mead 3 comments

Give It Up For Julie - Unique Styles for Everyone

Posted by FairyMouseMom

Not every digital designer might catch your eye with his or her style.  You might think, "Hmmm, I'll just stick with what I know."  But, if you do that, you do not know what you are missing.

Julie Mead is one of those designers who is not like most of the rest out there in digi world.  Her unique items are worth a try when creating your own unique layouts.

This week, A Cherry On Top's Digital Creative Team wanted to showcase and show you just what can be done with Ms. Mead's digital items.

Love Beyond Belief by Egle (FairyMouseMom)

I just used two sheets of paper, a mask, and a part of a word art from Julie's kits and came up with this layout. All I added extra was a picture and some text and I was done.  No glitz, per se, but,  hopefully a touch of glamour.

fairy house by Kristianne (MamaK321)

Kristianne wrote, "My daughters built a fairy house last summer. I love the flirty feel of the new Spring Masks."

Such A Lady by Jennifer (sarahwhithers)

Jennifer says, "Julie's new Bestest Mom Ever kit was a great choice for these pics because Gwen is so un-lady-like in this picture and Julie's kit is sooo sweet and lady like. What a great contrast to prove a point!"

The Curious Case of Xander Bruno by Cassandra (Mommybruno)

"I have a lot of Julie's elements, but very few of her kits. This reveal was a nice way to get more familiar with what she has to offer. And that's a lot! Lots of unique elements, lots of distressed papers (at least from this kit) and fun patterns. I used her The Good Guys Conspiracy kit, which was so much fun to play with and worked very well for scrapping my son's weird new phase. And the stand-alone alpha just matched it so well. I'll definitely be investing in more of Julie's kits!" shares Cassandra.

Cassandra, I could not agree with you more in your description!

Made With Love by Egle (FairyMouseMom)

Here were my thoughts on this one:  "I only used 3 "kits" of Julie's to create this layout.  The first is using a paper from one of her kits.  The second is using just one element from it.  And the third kit used the rest of the elements from it.  All I added was some verbiage and a word to add to the title and I was done.  So simple, yet so fun looking!"

In Bloom by Cassandra (Mommybruno)

Cassandra writes, "This is a very girly girl page, not one of my usual. Look at all that pink! The nice thing about this layout is that I used a brand-new kit paired with much older elements, and it all works together so well. I've always been particularly fond of the Paper Bag elements, which are so easily color-customized to match any layout."

Peek-A-Boo by Jennifer (sarahwhithers)

Jennifer shares, "For this page I used her kit the Good Guys Conspiracy and the dark, rich colours made me think of my sister's dogs. So I layered on some paper and elements and came up with this!"

My Guy by Kristianne (MamaK321)

Kristianne says, "I thought my husband's NCO class photo would go well with the distressed yet dapper Good Guys collection. I really like the artistic look of the smaller sized paper and saved my layout as a .png to get that uneven finished look."

Hopefully we have given you a look at using some types of kits that you may never have before.  Julie Mead's style is so unique.  It is filled with artistic touches.  Masks, brushes, kits...romantic or fun looking.....Julie's wares here at A Cherry on Top should not be missed!
