Everything Old is New Again 7 comments
Turning an old layout into a new templatePosted by Art_Teacher Sometimes when you are stuck for inspiration, you only need look as far as your own scrapbook albums! For this reveal, the Digi CT team of Laura, Egle, and Cassandra each chose an old layout and created a template to use for a new layout. We each scrapped a layout using our own template and the other gals' templates, as well. Enjoy our new takes on our old layouts and also the freebie templates, which we are sharing with you! You can download them here! Laura's (Art_Teacher) template:
Laura created this template from her old layout, entitled "Christmas with Family & Friends," which you see here.
Here is Laura's new layout, "Celebrate with Family."
Laura states, "I actually really like the template I created from it. It has plenty of room for photos and also for fun embellishments!" Here is Cassandra's (Mommybruno) interpretation of Laura's template, "Grundy Under the Tree."
Cassandra "switched it up a bit by combining some of the photo blocks so I could feature larger photos. That's the beauty of using templates...they're so easy to customize!" Here is Egle's (FairyMouseMom) version of Laura's template, "Recipe: Calzone."
Egle created this page for her children and their own recipe albums. What a great idea! Finally, here is Kristi's (MamaK321) design with Laura's template, "Believe."
Kristi changed the number of photos in the template so she could have fewer, larger images. Egle's template:
Egle's template was created from her old layout, "You Go, Girl," shown below.
Egle's new take on her template, "Cookie Monster Love," uses a totally different theme than her old layout.
As Egle says, "in a sense, we scraplifted ourselves!" Cassandra's design, using Egle's template, "Nature's Bling," is shown here.
Note how Cassandra "rotated it 90 degrees. Templates = flexibility! To further enchance the icicles," she "tried to use some acrylic for that see-through look." Laura's version of Egle's template, "Look," is shown next.
Laura tells us, "For Egle's template, I chose this favorite photo of my cousin's little one. I turned the photo to sepia to make it less distracting and focus more on his sweet face. Minimal pops of color also add to that focus. I really like this template because of the large half-circle photo. It draws you in." Our Digi Guest CT, Sus (Susanne_79), also gave her rendition of Egle's template, "Fun Times."
To "round out" this gorgeous template, Jennifer (sarahwhithers) shares her inspiration with us, "Love You Always."
Cassandra's template:
Cassandra used her old layout, "Sous Chef" to inspire this template.
Cassandra's new layout, called "Like Father, Like Son" uses the same subjects in a new way!
Cassandra explains, "I didn't significantly alter the template, but because of the subject matter and the choice of colors and materials, it looks completely different from the original page. And if you have a page design you like, why not use it again?" Below is Egle's layout inspired by Cassandra's template, "Jamocha Shake."
Doesn't this look delicious? Laura's design using Cassandra's template, "Sweet Girl, " showcases her favorite scrappy subject, Paisley!
Laura tells us why she likes Cassandra's template saying, "I love the clean lines and the large photos! She also left space to add embellishments to personalize the layout. This is a feature I look for in a template!" Digi Guest Sus's layout, "Shoot" uses Cassandra's template to its best advantage.
Finally, Jennifer also uses Cassandra's template in her layout, "Catching Air."
We hope these layouts have inspired you to take a look at your old layouts. A great design can always be used more than once! Below are some of the fabulous products from our Digi Shoppe that were used in this reveal. Posted by Art_Teacher Reader Comments ... 2/18/11 5:20 pm
