Fancy Pants Traditions 11 comments
Posted by Dianedi Did you know that there are only 60 days left until Christmas? Hmmm...sounds like I need to make my lists and check them twice! Seriously, where did the year go? As usual, I had yet to scrapbook last years Christmas photos. Those are the photos that I always avoid and that I seem to never be caught up on. I always vow before the next Christmas that I'll get the year before scrapped. So, here I am with the help of a fabulous collection by Fancy Pants Designs - Tradition. You can't go wrong with the beautiful shades of red, green, blue, brown, and white and fabulous candy cane stripes, polka dots, flourishes, and damask patterns. With this incredible collection, you'll find fabulous papers, rub-on's, glitter cuts, Journaling Tags, Tags and Titles, Ribbons, and more!
Oh, can you feel the anticipation in these photos? I just LOVE that photo of my kids standing at the top of the stairs waiting to come down to check out the presents. In our family, we leave cookies, milk, and carrots by the fireplace for Santa. Miraculously, Santa always leaves the one "must have" toy" that my kids have asked for in the morning on that fireplace. Instead of the kids running for the tree, they run for the fireplace to see if Santa has finished his cookies and to see what he has left for them. Last year, my son, Colin, wanted a robotic dinosaur which was so much fun and scared the dog for the rest of the day! My daughter, Lauren, wanted the FurReal Kitty that purrs and moves. She was attached to that kitty for the rest of the day. (Don't ask where it is now!) For the layout, I started out with the Falling Snow Paper as the background and cut a large piece from the Tradition Strips Paper to place at the top of the layout. The 3 dangling ornaments are from the Glitter Cuts package and the scallop accents are from the Notebook Journaling Book. I've added additional rub-on's and Element Stickers to complete the layout.
Christmas Eve. Such a busy and fun night in our house. The festivities start early in the day with baking cookies for Santa and desserts for all of our other guests. I can never decide what I want to do more: help them bake or take pictures! I can't resist the photos with their lips and mouths completely green from sprinkles. In this layout, we've gotten our cookies, milk and carrots all set to go on the fireplace and it is just about time to get to bed. In the bottom corner of the layout, I've included the note that Santa left for the kids the next morning. For the background of the layout, I've used the Trim The Tree Paper. I've added two 4"x8" Journaling Notebook embellishments and surrounded those with the tree, Happy Holidays and ornament flourish Glitter Cuts. I've also added a scalloped Element sticker strip at the bottom and rub-on's.
As an avid card maker, buying Christmas papers and embellishments has always been a weakness of mine. I instantly fell in love with the Traditions Collection because of the Journaling Book and the Tags and Titles embellishments. Both of these embellishments are packed with goodies to create cards! For this card, I started with one of the 4"x8" journaling cards as the base. I layered several other journaling cards, added a scallop border, felt flowers, stamping, ribbon, holly leaves, and glitter.
A close up view of the felt flower with accents.
For this card, I used the Holiday Sentiments paper as the background and layered a Tag and Title, Journaling Card, and the brown card with candles from the Tradition Cards Paper. I adhered the sentiment with foam tape to add dimension and added a Glitter Die-cut ornament and plenty of jewels for sparkle.
"Wishing You A Merry Christmas" Another card using a combination of the Journaling Notebook and Tags and Titles. I've used foam tape for dimension and I've inked all of the pieces of paper with dark brown ink. The holly leaves and twine were purchased at a local craft store.
This card uses the "Oh Christmas Tree" large Element Sticker as the focal point of the card. For the base of the card, I've used the Stars and Holly paper and then layered a Journaling Book scalloped tag. I've added the presents on either side of the sentimental which are found on the rub-on sheet.
