Featured Digital Designer - Shawnery's Designs 6 comments
Posted by MamaK321 The creative team had a blast working with Shawnery's Designs. Her creations are super fun and cute - just like she is (check out her profile picture under reelynn and you'll know just what I'm talking about). As she is a newer designer to A Cherry on Top, we have asked her a few questions to help you get to know her better.
Here are some factual items we asked her: 1. How long have you been digitally designing? About 3 years
I started designing stuff to use in a scrap for hire business I was planning on creating, then I realized I could sell the stuff I created. I started putting stuff for free on my blog and then was able to get into a small store to start and then started selling at bigger stores.
I draw my inspiration from clothes, decorations, fabric, magazines, billboards - just about anything. I have been known to take pictures of kids clothes because I like the colors or designs on them.
I am creating another winter kit. It is not cutesy like my last one.
I want to learn new techniques I haven't tried before. I plan to be more organized than I have been in the past. I also hope to become more active in the digital community - I have tended in the past to keep kind of quiet.
I really like doing doodles and coloring them (either with colored pencils or water colors). I will probably do more of that this year.
1. What is on your top 10 playlist?
I like a variety of different music. So here are some of my favorites (in no particular order) 1. Mushaboom - Fiest, 2. dream - Priscilla Ahn, 3. Bring me to life - Evanescence, 4. Somebody - Depeche Mode, 5, My Immortal - Evanescence, 5. Welcome to the Black Parade - My Chemical Romance, 6. Supermassive Black Hole - Muse, 7. You belong to me - Jason Wade, 8. I love my lips - Veggie tales, 9. Down with the sickness - Disturbed, 10. Closer - Nine inch Nails
2. Of all the crazy things you've done in your life, what is the craziest? Hmm, I don't do many crazy things, but maybe the thing that a lot of people haven't done - I hiked from the north rim to the south rim and back of the grand canyon in 5 days - the temperature, scorpions, blisters - great fun!!!
Anastasia - I think I am a little like her, I have a dream and search for it and I am kind of spunky.

I try each time to just slowly enjoy it, but end up taking big bites because I am too impatient - yep that is also how I deal with life.
Strictly Ballroom. I know it is REALLY cheesy (it is supposed to be), but ever since I was a young adult I have loved that movie.
Jenn (sarahwhithers) says, "Her kits have such beautiful colours and elements. They were wonderful to work with!" Jenn used two kits, Illustrious and Antique Love, to create her fantastic layout.
And she couldn't help herself - she made this adorable page with the Winter Playground kit.
Sara (Keling) also used the Illustrious kit to create her beautiful page. "I'm only just becoming acquainted with her products, but from what I've seen . . . . she's a genius at achieving that vintage, aged look with a mastery in texture, especially in her papers."
Sarah (davsar) says "I'm super excited about this new designer. Her diverse style covers so many of those pictures that did not fit the typical kit." Shawnery's fun kit, Giggles, was a perfect compliment for Sarah's carnival picture.
Janell (janello) is in love! "I fell in love with the winter play ground papers and elements as soon as I saw it, I love the hand-drawn elements and cute animals. The colors of this playful kit look perfect against snow photos. The kit was full of fun elements and beautiful details." The first day of snow she was sure to capture this moment so she could use Winter Playground.
"Shawnery's Designs are whimsical, elegant, and just so darn lovely! I used this gorgeous kit, "Antique Love" to showcase one of my favorite candid photos of dh and I in 2008," says Laura (Art_Teacher). What a beautiful way to capture two love birds!
Ronny (Smiley-Scrap8) recommends, "You... head to the shop and check them (Shawnery's Designs) out today!" "Her designs are so fun to work with because she combines cool real life elements with hand drawings for her colorful kits." To showcase these sweet (no pun intended) Christmas pictures Ronny used the Funky Christmas kit.
Jennifer (jjenni08) mixed a little of the Giggles kit with the Winter Playground kit to make a birthday memory of her niece.
And from our amazing guest CT member, Candace (GRACEpunches5), we have a great winter page using Winter Playground (can you tell this is an awesome kit
Kristianne (MamaK321) also used Winter Playground because she says, "the hand colored elements are the perfect, playful accents for my photos..."
