Featuring Digital Designer: Kelly Shults 2 comments
Posted by MamaK321 This month we are pleased to feature Kelly Shults! Her latest release is a Playful combination of bold colors and sweet embellishments, perfect for layouts of any theme.
We asked Kelly to answer a short questionaire:
1. How long have you been digitally designing?
I got my “official” start as a digi designer in April of 2003. I was actually scrapbooking in Photoshop long before I knew there was such a thing as digital scrapbooking. 2. How did you get your start in designing? I got my start when I signed on with one of the very first digi scrap stores to hit the internet (Scrapbook-Elements). I began my paper design career in 2006 when I designed my first paper collection for Dream Street Papers. 3. From what/where/who do you get inspiration? I get my inspiration from nature, my family, and I am a magazine junkie. I love color and texture, so I truly get inspiration from all around me. 4. Are there any upcoming products you can tell us about? Any hints? Ummmm… I do have a new “beachy” theme collection coming out pretty soon. 5. What are your goals as a designer for this year? I always try to continue learning and growing as a designer and I don’t like to get stuck in a rut, as far as style goes. Lately, I have been trying to modify my style a bit. I feel like I have done a lot of shabby/ grungy style designing and would like to try my hand at a more clean and simple design style… maybe a little more graphic? So…my goal is try creating more kits with that style in mind. 6. What is your favourite type of thing to create at the moment? Clean and simple layouts, where the photos are the focus. And just for fun.... 1. How do you plan to spend the upcoming weekend? I have a few non-scrap related craft projects in the works so I plan on finishing those up. One is a hanging butterfly mobile, that is very girly and fun. I also want to see the movie Time Traveler’s Wife (the book was awesome!) Other than those things, I am going to hang out with my family and relax!J 2. Who is your favorite cartoon (or fictional) character and why? Are you a little like them? My favorite storybook character is Skippyjon Jones. He is a Siamese kittenboy who can't resign himself to being an ordinary cat, so he pretends he is a superhero Chihuahua dog. These stories are hilarious and fun to read if you can fake a good Spanish accent. I don’t know if I am like him in anyway, but I am sure we all wish we could be something other than what we are from time to time.J 3. What is your favorite dessert? Apple Pie a la mode (with vanilla ice cream on top) Yummy! 4. What is the movie you are most embarrassed to admit you love? Wayne’s World. I love Wayne and Garth. They crack me up! J And how take a look at the amazing layouts our Creative Team created using a variety of products by Kelly Shults.
