Sweet, Sassy and SurprisingPosted by megamay I had my eye on this collection since it debuted. I just love the blues and the greens and those cakes! But I was hesitant because I thought the colors might be too bright. I also thought that the black accents wouldn't go with my style; I thought they were too funky. Boy was I wrong! I can't get enough of this collection! For the most part, the colors are not quite as vibrant in person as they seem in the online photos. But don't get me wrong, they still have some punch to them! I just couldn't put this collection down! Since I was scared, I started with a pagemaps sketch. I chose some of the more subdued papers and paired them with solids, which I dry embossed and inked. This page just wasn't working for me so I put it aside to think on it. As it turned out, I just had the wrong photo! The photo that I was trying to use is in the next page. It was too bright and busy for this page. I found a different photo and this page just fell into place. Doesn't that metal Sassafras Lass flower add just the right touch?! So, now I had this photo leftover and lying on my desk. I chose this photo specifically to go with these papers because it had similar colors in it and was very vibrant. However, when I went to use it, I found it matched almost TOO well. I had laid the photo down on the white cardstock with the transparency frame, and I just loved it! I didnt want to add anything! So I started playing around with the little circles. It still didn't seem like enough, but I didn't want to add any big pieces of paper, so I added the strips coming out of each circle. That's it! stitching, title and done!
Next I wanted to make a baby card and really showcase the versatility of this line. Some really good friends just had a baby boy and I wanted to send them a very special card, but I didn't have any baby products and certainly not any baby boy stuff. But that's ok because they are sort of non-traditional anyway. I thought, hmm this line has some blue and green. Even if it isn't a really boy-y blue and green, it could work for a baby! I printed the giraffe digi stamp out with some word art that I created myself. then I printed the dragon and baby croc separately. I colored it all in with colors to match the papers. Then I cut out the dragon and crocodile and used pop dots to put them next to the giraffe. Some matting, some ribbon and a dash of bling and voila! I think the touches of kraft make the lime greens and teal blues cross from sassy girl, to baby boy, beautifully! Finally, This cake sticker was the main reason that I had my eye on this collection from the beginning. I just LOVE this sticker! But I wanted to really showcase it. I had this frame lying around for a long time. I think it is Making Memories, but I'm not sure. It was kind of a dull black so I inked it and then sprayed it with gloss to make it darker and shiny. and because I just couldn't stop with this line, and there was a sketch posted by Noel Culbertson for Glitz designs today, I made one more. (well actually there will be ANOTHER one but that is for my February challenge, so you can't see it until then) Anyway, this is the one from Noel's sketch. I was seriously running low on products here, but I still kinda love it! Incidentally, it is also my first try at altering my stitching in the middle of a line or stitching. the zig zag - to straight stitch in the corners. But I think that adds just the right touch.
