Hybrid Holidays 10 comments
Jump into the holidays with fun hybrid gift ideas!Posted by Smiley-Scrap8 The gift giving season is fast approaching and while it's a wonderful time to show your love ones just how much you care, it can also be stressful to find the perfect gift for everyone. The CT has the answer, make some one of a kind, creative gifts using your love of digi and some traditional paper and glue. We're sure you'll find some great ideas in this reveal for everyone on your list. First lets start with getting those holiday cards out on time. Here are 2 great examples of beautiful cards made digital but that can be printed at your local photo shop. Kids Christmas Card 10' by Janell The kids' Christmas card. I love the 4x8 format. Did you know that you can make your own 4x8 cards and then take them into Wal-mart or Sams, Costco and still get the great 4x8 Christmas card prices (including with the foil lined envelopes). Another reason I love digital scrapbooking. I am guaranteed that my custom card will be %100 original.
Now every special gift also need a unique tag, and making your own is as easy as making the original holiday greeting cards. Design and print. Here is great example using a fall theme. Sweet Potato Bread Tags by Ronny Every year as a family we make a variety of breads and cookies to hand out to family and friends starting in October and continuing through December. I always type up the info and a message on a fun tag but this time I took it a step further by using Digital elements to decorate my tags. Then I embellished them with some raffia and leaves.
Next it's time to decorate the tree or give a festive gift fill with treats. Check both of these Christmas themed gifts the are just too cute. Angel and Mouse Treat Jars by Laura I haven't had much chance to do altered items because they take more time than I seem to have. However, these little dressed up jars will be perfect for the secretaries at my school, after I fill them with Hershey Kisses! Plus, they were so quick and easy!
Hybrid Christmas Ornament by Janell I made this ornament for my Grandma for Christmas this year. It was super easy to do. I purchased a "naked" chipboard ornament from Hobby Lobby and made a mini digi layout for the back side to say "Merry Christmas 2010" and on the front side I took a picture of my Grandma and her Great Grandchildren and had it printed out, cut them out, glued to ornament and added ribbon, ric-rac, and a holly leaves and berry embellishment. Very cute and I know she'll love hanging this on her Christmas tree!
And finally we have some personal gifts made just for the special people in our lives. Julie Altered Monogram by Ronny A gift for my dd who has been begging for a J of her own after I made one for her brother over a year ago. It's just so easy to make this hybrid, just print the paper you want to use, adhere it and add some chipboard, flowers and alphas.
I am making these cute blocks fro my nieces and nephew for XMAS! I bought the blocks at Micheals {they are 2x2}, painted them with just cheap acrylic craft paint and then I just did a 1.8 x 1.8 "LO" in PS for each side {so that ='s 6 mini LO's for each block!!!}..I then put each "mini LO" on a 2 x 8.2 black LO and then I merged them all and then put 5 of the 2 x 8.2 LO's on one big 8.2 x 10.8 LO {for printing}...this way I could maximize my printing capabilities! I got a total of 20 squares on each printed page! Then I had to end up printing a total of 132 squares {since the girls names each have 6 letters in their names except for Abby!}..after I printed and cut them all out, I adhered them to the blocks with mod podge and then went over the top of them with mod modge as well! Keep in mind you can't put anything with dimension on them because if you go to put the dimesion side down, it will be bulky and not lay flat~ they really are alot of fun!!!!
My Grandma is 104 years old now. There is a song my mom taught us when we were little and some of the lyrics go like this, "I wish every child in the whole wide world had a grandmother just like you!" This summer we had these pictures of my children taken with their great grandma and I plan to print this out and give this layout to my grandma for Christmas.
Shadow Box Wall Hanging by Ronny This is a gift for my mom, every year I make some sort of craft/album of the kids for her to display in her house. Being a few states away and only getting to see them twice a year is hard so I hope she enjoys it.
