LYB 25 Days of Christmas 21 comments

An Elegant Holiday Line

Posted by SarahA on Monday, November 16, 2009

The Little Yellow Bicycle 25 Days of Christmas line has fun and elegance all rolled into one! There are plenty of embellishments in this line- stickers, chipboard buttons, ribbon, rhinestones, brads, felt and canvas tags just to name a few. The papers in this line are heavy-weight, double sided and come in many beautiful patterns. There are swirls, shiny gold and silver designs, reindeer and gorgeous snowflakes that can compliment any holiday photos!

Happy Holidays

The first layout I did used their die-cut glittered poinsettia paper. This is the most gorgeous glittered paper! I backed it with a coordinating cardstock, which really gave the layout a simple, yet elegant look. I matted the photo with a few of the patterned papers, added a gold ribbon and the title. It needed a little something more, so I covered a chipboard star with one of the patterned papers and added one of the chipboard epoxy buttons. These were my favorite embellishments in this line. The package has 30 buttons with 10 different designs. They are so cute and versatile! I added a few of the rhinestones, too- there are some very pretty gold ones with this line!

A Christmas to Remember

The Christmas of 2006 was our first Christmas with a baby and an entire side of my family was in attendance at our family party that year (a rare feat with 25 people scattered across the country!). For this layout I first sprayed a sheet of kraft cardstock with Pearl Glimmer Mist. I love Pearl Glimmer Mist! It is perfect for adding just a touch of shimmer to any project! If you only own one bottle of this stuff- make it Pearl!
I used a die-cut snowflake sheet of paper I had as a template to trace on one of the snowflake patterned papers. I didn’t have to spend much time coming up with a title for this one- LYB did it for me with one of their canvas tags! These tags are great for actual gift tags, layouts or cards. I sprayed this one with more Glimmer Mist, added a bow, then attached it with some foam adhesive dots. I added a row of those fun chipboard buttons tied with metallic embroidery floss. The patterned ledger paper (white with beautiful gold lines) served as my journaling spot, and this layout was done!

Scenes from a Christmas Card Photo Shoot

I knew I had to scrap some of the shots that didn’t make the cut for last year’s Christmas card. I have no idea how a 2 pound weight made it into the photo, but it was pretty funny anyway!
There is a big selection of patterned paper in this line and they all coordinate so well! I cut several of them down into strips so I could use several of them on this layout. I embellished with another tag, some snowflakes and more buttons. I added some of the rhinestones (there are 5 colors in the package!) to the photos. I used the mini alphas on this layout- they are great for long titles! There are a ton of these stickers in the package in red, green, gold and silver in several different upper and lower case fonts.

Christmas Card

I wanted a fun way to send a photo with our cards this year. This is the first year I am hand making cards, and even though this looks like it took a lot of time, it really didn’t! I took a 5x7 card and sprayed it with Pearl Glimmer Mist (see- I told you it looks good on everything!). Then on the front, I used my circle punch to punch half a circle in the top so the photo can peek out. After that, I attached a block of patterned paper and then sewed 3 sides of the card together to make a pocket. I used one of the canvas tags as the sentiment, then attached it to another piece of the patterned paper that I cut with my Slice and the Noteworthy card. I added a few of the rhinestones to the centers of the snowflakes. I know it looks time consuming, but if you set it up in an assembly line, they’ll be done in no time at all!
