A proud Air Force wife, devoted mom to son Cole and a diehard Dolphin fan come meet Suslvgeo and get to know more about her.
Tell us about your family:
My husband’s name is George and he is in the US Air Force. In February he will be pinned on as Major. “MAJOR LUSH”…I still giggle at that every time I think of it. So proud of him and what he has accomplished. He, my son and my doggy are truly my everything’s!!!! My son’s name is Cole who turns 5 in November. When I named him I thought I was picking a unique name. NOT….two Cole’s in his class last year and we just made some new friends in Denver and lo and behold they have a Cole. Egads.
How long have you been a scrapbooking and what got you started?
I started scrapping about 3.5 years ago. I was in a friend’s wedding and someone had made a scrapbook for her display at here wedding. I thought it was the coolest thing ever!! At first I wanted to pay them to do it for me and then thought “heck, I can do that!” So here I am almost 4 years later COMPLETELY addicted.
What inspires you?
Online galleries are where I get the most inspiration. I used to love looking at magazines, but the styles all started to look alike. The online galleries show such a wide variety. I love picking up accent ideas, title ideas, sketch ideas you name it. Another big one is songs. I LOVE doing songs on my layouts.
How do your family and friends feel about your scrapbooking?
Most of them outside of the scrappy world, don’t really understand it, however I am asked a lot to make layouts for friends and family so they must appreciate the art somewhat.
How did you find A Cherry on Top?
I had shopped here for about a year, when one day I logged on and someone had hit me with a snowball. I was like “what the heck is that all about?” So I started browsing and then started posting. I met the most amazing people about a month after I had been on and have not looked back since.
How long have you been a part of the ACOT community?
Do you have a favorite product line?
You are kidding right? Narrow it down?!?!?! I don’t think I can pick a particular brand. I can tell you after moving and seeing all my stuff boxed up by others…I have a “tad” bit of an obsession with alphabets. ANY kind of alphabet. It truly is scary.
What is a favorite technique that you like to use?
Cannot really think of one. I try to do different things so I don’t get bored. But I do love chipboard. Painting it, covering it with paper, sanding it, leaving it nekkid…seriously love doing anything with chipboard.
When and where do you create your layouts?
In my brand new scrappy room!!! WOOT WOOT. I used to have to do it in a combo office/ dining room area but since we moved and got a bigger house I have my very own slice of heaven. And I LOVE IT!!! Just try to have him move me to a house with less than 4 bedrooms next time. bwahahaha
What is a favorite layout of yours and why?
I had to do this one for a contest based on a sketch. I had never really used sketches before and it pushed me to new limits. Using so many pics on a page, using unique colors for a boy page to have it stand out and the journaling is one of my favorite ones so far.
How would you define your style?
I don’t think I have a defined style. Some layouts are crisp while other ones seem to be busy. I think it just depends on my mood or the mood of the pics.
Do you have any tips to share for saving time, organizing or getting started?
The CLIP IT UP is awesome. I now have two and it is so wonderful being able to spin stuff around and see it all. Before my stuff would be all boxed up and I would actually forget I would have something and buy it again. UGH. Since I have had this, it has been so much easier to see stuff especially color groups and so much easier for me to put stuff away. Just clip it back on.
What is your ultimate goal in scrapbooking?
I would like to keep scrapping away until Cole at least turns 18. I started when he was one and I have a book for each year so far. I would like to maintain that so it can be something I share with him later.
Any other hobbies?
I absolutely LOVE the Miami Dolphins…in case no one here knew that. During football season my whole week revolves around what time the games are on and EPSN sportcenter. I know crazy…I know…but I have loved footballs since I was 12 and I can see myself at 80 still going to games. LOVE IT!!!
