My Mind's Eye 4 comments

Lil' Robot

Posted by Dianedi

Do you ever feel like you scrap some topics more than others? or certain people more than others? I definitely do! I try to equally divide my scrapping time between my kids and family events. Lately, my daughter has gotten a lot more of the attention so I knew it was time to work on some more projects for my son. After seeing the Lil' Robots line from My Mind's Eye, I knew that was the perfect choice! Lil' Robots has nine fabulous patterned papers in shades of blue, green, orange, an accessory and chipboard embellishment sheet with robots and gears, and even brads and ribbons to complete your project.

"When I Grow Up"

Lately, the big topic in our house has been what my kids want to be when the grow up. (Right now, my kids are 7 and 5.) My son, Colin, usually waivers between quite a few different things depending on what we are talking about that day! Over the last several weeks, he has gone back and forth between being a football player, an artist, and a veterinarian!

For this layout, I've used the On A Pedestal Paper as the background paper.  The paper is already pre-designed with robots so I simply added a few accents to the columns with gears, stars, and pieces of patterned paper. I used the filmstrip from Creative Imaginations to highlight the three small photos, the When I grow Up die-cut from My Mind's Eye, and black letter stickers from October Afternoon to finish the title.

"Dit, Dit..."

I was so happy when I found a few photos of my son when he was a year and a half that I never scrapbooked. Two of the photos reminded me of some of the gibberish he used to use. He was a late talker and for the longest time all he said was "dit, dit" - meaning "this, this". Truly, I miss those younger days!

For the layout, I used the Little Robots paper as the background, embellishments from the Lil' Robots accessory sheet and Lil' Robots Chipboard Elements, and LaserLines and Microchip paper.

"Father's Dance"

OK - I gave in and decided I had to do a girlie page with these papers just to show the versatility of the line. Although I chose to use WE R Memory Buttercup Sewn Cardstock as the background, the other patterned papers are from LIl' Robots. I used my new Martha Stewart Flower Bed Deep Edge punch for the edges of the Gizmo Gears paper and layered the Microchip paper with the navy frame from the accessory sheet. The rest of the embellishments are from My Mind's Eye newest Quite Contrary Collections and Prima's new Mini bouquet flowers and say it in pearls

"My Team"

Not only is the Lil' Robot's line perfect for boys, it is also fabulous for sports pages! I loved the stars, strips and circles that are perfect for sports pages!  I've layered several of the patterned papers and I've used the My Mind's Eye bracket die-cuts at the top and bottom of the photo. I cut all of the stars from the Sock 'em Stars paper and used them throughout the layout. To add some final detail, I used Kaisercraft pearls for the center of the stars.
