Recoloring Digital Kit Elements 2 comments
Posted by Mommybruno Do you ever find yourself working on a layout, and you have the perfect element...if only it was the right color! Well, most digital elements are able to be recolored using your scrappy software, which makes your digi kits that much more versatile! Not sure how to go about recoloring? Check out this great tutorial by Tracy (ICanHasCherryOnTop): The Digital Creative Team whipped up some layouts to demonstrate how they use recolored elements to get just the right look! Hard At Play, by Glenda (bamablue): I layered two of Julie Mead's Doodle Templates - the bottom one is recolored a solid pink. For the top one, I made a pattern out of Emi's bathing suit and angled it before I used it to recolor the doodle. I also recolored Kim's Cherry Bit's Alpha to better match the color of her suit. (Paint Shop Pro 12 makes it easy with the Color Changer Tool!)
Summer Fun, by Angie (nun69): I recolored the green button from Di Hickman's Summer Fun Kit....{I changed the green button by going to “hue/saturation” and moving the HUE slider to the left -30 then I moved the SATURATION slider to the right +15} so give it a try.
Walking the Dog, by Marcie (m1218p): Chirpi's Morroccan Ocean Sunset had the perfect colored papers for this layout. However, I wanted different colors in the elements. I changed the beige flower to gold using the enhance>adjust hue and saturation method. I wanted a large satiny bow to go with the satiny flower. I started with a beautiful pink bow from This Bliss by LaWanna Desjardin (available at SBB). I used the same method to change the color of the bow. I changed the color of the alpha as well. In this case, I used the original alpha to creat the title, merged the layers, and used the merged file as a clipping mask for a paper from the Morroccan Ocean Sunset kit. I then changed the opacity of the paper layer until I could see the shadowing on the alpha as designed behind the blue/green color of the paper.
Deep Blue, by Amanda (mkcdaisy): Amanda recolored items from Julie Bullock's Just Beachy kit.
Breaking Dawn, by Cassandra (mommybruno): For the reveal, I recolored the alpha stickers for the title - the black and white ones are the originals, and I changed them to red. To do this I just used my color picker to select the shade of red I wanted, then used my paint bucket on the black sections of each letter. Easy! For the swirls (I included the original below) I rotated them and then changed their color a bit to fit in better with my overall layout. I used Hue/Saturation for this one, adjusting Becky and Dave, by Laura (Art_Teacher): Another photo of my sil's wedding. Her flowers were blue hydrangeas (sort of periwinkle), so I recolored all the items to fit the color scheme. My Nieces, by Jennifer (jjenni08): I love to re-color the items I put on my layout. In this layout I used an alpha that was red and white and using the hue changer, I changed it to pink to match the other elements on the layout.
Laugh, by Tracy (ICanHasCherryOnTop): You really need to check this layout in the gallery to see the vast amount of items
Always and Forever, by Janel (janello): For this reveal we recolored our elements and papers. You can recolor things ever so slighty by changing the hue or even the brightness of an element to achieve just the right look. I recolor elements on almost every single layout I do, so I really enjoyed this reveal!
You & Aunt Moe, by Karin (mayerkt): Karin recolored items from Julie Bullock's Just Beachy kit and Christine Haskell's Off to College kit.
Swim Grins, by Egle (FairyMouseMom): This was done for the ACOT Digital CT Reveal - recoloring elements. I chose to recolor a few things....the decorative scroll, the decorative circle, and the alphabet. I was going for more of a "monochromatic" look here and tried to keep the colors all similar.
Sand Fight, by Kristianne (MamaK321): I like to use the Color Variations tool to recolor my items. For this layout I recolored the yellow button from green, the light red button from being very dark red, the blue ribbon from purple, and the green tape from brown. I used an overlay effect on the polka dot paper to blend it into the white paper.
Recolored items on these layouts used the following digital items, available from the ACOT Digi Shoppe: Posted by Mommybruno Reader Comments ... 8/12/08 5:33 pm
