Scrapbooking With Bo Bunny Sun Kissed 24 comments

Bright, Fun and truly easy to work with

Posted by megamay

It just seems that every new Bo Bunny release is better than the last, and I can't get enough! This one did NOT disappoint. At first I was a little scared by the bright colors, but as it turns out, that just made it so much fun to work with these papers. Just looking at these papers makes me happy. It isn't often that I can say that I truly LOVE each and every creation in a reveal, but with this one I do! I really love it that Bo Bunny threw some purple in with the standard summery colors of yellow, orange and green. It just makes it all so fresh and different!

I couldn't wait to dive in to my first layout with this collection because I was totally inspired even before I got my hands on it. I was looking at the papers on my computer at work and it just came to me, that I had to make a whimsical scene with the splash paper and a picture of my daughter jumping through the sprinkler.  These are the papers that inspired me. I cut out the sprinkler graphic, along with the tree and the green sections from the adventure paper and I was well on my way.

A couple of hours worth of fiddling later, I came up with this...

It is definitely not my normal style, but I kind of adore it. Shaping the photo like a droplet was my DH's idea. I showed him my work in progress and he said, "yeah but the picture just doesn't fit because it is too square". I had originally imagined the picture sort of floating on top of the splash. I ended up tracing the negative from the splash paper to create the droplet. The 'window' is cardboard covered in cardstock and wooden skewers painted white.

Next I moved on to this paper:

Also while sitting at work, I was struck by how neat all the various blocks are on this. I wanted a sort of mosaic looking frame. So, yeah, I cut them ALL out... And inked them.  It really didn't take too long because they were simple shapes to cut out. I sat on the couch and watched Diego while I cut.  Because I had so many photos, this one had to be a double pager, which is also out of my comfort zone. I tried to create balance: the squares on the outside of the left page balancing the ones on the inside of the right, the one large photo balancing the multiple small ones and the white space balancing the busy-ness.

Since I had done so much cutting for the first page, I had a bunch of smallish pieces laying on my desk, including the wavy remnants of the adventure paper. With some creative layering I was able to create this layout from those scraps and a couple others that I cut into shape. I hand stitched the white border. I just LOVE all of the little stickers that came with the Combo Sticker Page. I used a bunch of them here, and some in the journaling of the double layout.

This one was pretty simple. I always take pictures of my dog, then never know how to scrap them because she is black and brown and pics of her usually end up seeming kind of dreary. I love how the bright colors of these papers brighten up the photos, even though she is giving my camera the stink eye in the first photo! I did a little bit of photoshop manipulation on these because in the background there was not only that bright green sandbox, but a bright red car and a bright blue chair. I duplicated the background layer, then made the bottom one black and white before using the eraser to erase the sections of the top layer that I wanted to show up as black and white. Possibly not the best fix. If you look closely you can see a redish shadow coming from the car, but it works allright because I only had a tiny piece of the car that I needed to eliminate and it is totally in the background. That technique is really simple and fast, to fix glaring things in the background that you can't crop out totally.

Finally, back on the mosaic look. I used part of the Cut Outs paper to create this simple, but striking card.
