Simple Digital Scrapbooking Techniques, part 2 2 comments

Creating Double Matted Photos

Posted by Keling on Monday, June 5, 2006

Ever wonder how to matte your photos in digital? It's really easy! Just follow these simple step-by-step instructions:

1. Open your photo, crop as desired and resize it. Make sure that you set the resolution for 300 pixels.

2. Select all of the photo, copy and paste on top of 'paper'. Flattened the image by selecting "flatten image" under the Layer bar.

3. Using the square marquee tool, created a square (or rectangle) around it, slightly larger than the picture to create a border.

4. Select copy.

5. Paste that on the 2nd 'paper'. Flatten the layers again.

6. Using the marquee tool, create a square slightly larger than the first mat.

7. Copy and paste onto your layout.

Great article, Sara, thank you. This is exactly the opposite of how I've done it in the past, this way looks much easier and I can't wait to try it myself.
