The Ballerina Tea Party 4 comments

Every little girl's dream

Posted by milmomma

Balancé , Sauté  and Arabesque. Say What? I was a bit nervous when my daughter said she wanted a ballet themed tea party. Okay, so naturally I’m thinking I need the normal birthday stuff, plates, cups, napkins, banners. It got me thinking, how much of it could I make myself?

Michelle Bradley came to ACOT and brought these awesome Party kits. It's all designed for you! You simply print and cut! I used her candy wrappers, invitations, and cones. There’s even matching banners. I loved the scallop edges and couldn’t resist it. I got out my sharp scissors and sat cutting as I watched NCIS on tv each night. I had the banner ready to go a week before the party.

I knew that I could not just let 4 year olds use ceramic tea cups, so I decided to go with my daughters favorite drink. After all the color matched! So I made up lots of pink lemonade in water bottles. I couldn't leave them plain either! So each bottle got a matching label. I used the colors from the party kit and just made my own design in Photoshop. I did take off the under wrapper and then used my ATG to adhere the wrappers.

It didn’t stop with just hybrid stuff though!  I made each girl a Cork Screw bow with my scrappy ribbon and some chopsticks.  (In case you wanted to try it yourself this is the video I watched.) I used the Cork Screw bows to add some pizzazz to the feather boas I tied on the chairs.

I also made these adorable tutus using more scrappy ribbon. (Who knew how useful this giant ribbon stash would be!) I just used ribbon and tied on the tulle, leaving plenty of ribbon on both ends to tie the tutu on each girl in a large bow. (I watched this video first.) Used clothes pins labeled with their names to hand the tutus.

I used the awesome cones to fill with popcorn and placed on each plate. The girls loved the idea of popcorn along with all the other sweets. Everything was in a cupcake wrapper individually for each to taste each sweet.

Every surface that could, had tea cups with flowers or a tulle bow. Everything was sprinkled with Pink!
