Bright and fun, while sophisticated and a little vintagePosted by megamay 'Bright and fun, while sophisticated and a little vintage' - how is that for a description? Seems a little contradictory doesn't it? That's how I feel about this line though. I love the reds and the blues, but paired with the browns and creams it seems less 'primary color juvenile' than vintage fun. I seriously could not stop using this line! As you can see I made a ton of projects. Even when those were done I had to drag myself away from these papers to work on something else because I wanted to keep going, but I had something else that needed to get done. I can't wait to go back and use up every last scrap of these papers!
When I saw this paper line I knew it was perfect for this mini album that I have been procrastinating for over a year. I love how the papers are bright and fun, but a little vintage and sophisticated. I grabbed the album from the MME Lush line because I love how the red accents the red in the papers. Also, the album is a little sophisticated too, and inexpensive! For this page, I wanted to use the wonderful die cut paper, but I thought the pattern was a little busy and wanted my photo to pop more, so I cut out the middle of the die cut and distressed the edges where I had cut it, before putting another paper underneath. I lightly misted the background with green glimmer mist where the top right corner of the photo is, just to give that area a little 'something'. The banners are cut from the pennant paper, then inked and curled up. The pieced background on this page was inspired by another scrapper at the crop I was attending. I decided to go the whole nine yard with distressing here, since I didnt have my sewing machine and I wanted a sort of soft feel. I have a LOT of distressed layers going on. On the background map paper, I crumpled it up a little, before swiping it with distress ink. The kites I hand cut from cardboard and some of my paper scraps. For this page, I used part of the scrap from the center of the diecut paper as an accent. I wanted the background just a tad more subtle, so I misted it with latte glimmer mist to tone down the contrasts. Finally, I used the scraps that were laying on my desk to make a couple of cards. I went with the fun feel on these cards and made kids' birthday cards. Well, generic birthday cards really, they wouldnt HAVE to be for kids.
