Webster's Pages Ladies and Gents 11 comments
soft, pretty and sometimes sassy!Posted by megamay When I first saw this line I was enthralled with the Groomed Traveller paper. That double frame on the back side is just amazing! I love the colors and the pattern - everything!
Of course, once I got my hands on the papers I got scared. They are so pretty and refined that I wasnt sure I knew what to do with them. I almost always get the collection pack because I love everything Webster's and use up every last scrap, but the best reason is that you get two sheets of every paper. (excep the vellum) So, my first step is to pull out one of each paper that I plan to fussy cut and flop down in front of the TV with those papers and a pair of scissors. This way, when it comes time to put my pages together things go a lot faster and I can move the fussy cut parts around like die cuts. Also, if I don't have them pre-fussy cut, sometimes I am tempted to say 'no, that would be too much work to cut out'. Which, just upsets me in the end, because I really like my fussy cut florals. For this page, I knew I wanted to use the inside frame from the frame paper, so I cut that out first. I had already fussy cut the mirror part and added that to the inside of the frame. I matted the brown background paper, and the frame, and the photo on dark brown cardstock. (I cut out the inside of the background mat and used that to mat the frame, then cut out the middle of that and used it to mat the photo. So I only used one sheet of dark brown cardstock here.) I glued the bloomers along the frame then mounted the photo on foam tape and sort of pushed it up against and slightly over the bloomers so they peek out from behind the photo. For the title, I fussy cut a journaling block, then cut the circular thread doily in half and tucked the two halves behind the title. I used a maya road pin for the center of the butterfly. This page looks fancy and complicated, but it was actually very fast! I already had the teacup cluster cut out. I also had already cut the middle out of the frame for the previous page. So, for this page all I did was make the punched borders and adhere them to the inside back of the frame. (I actually used the packaging from the collection kit for the borders, but you could also use the brown paper, it's the same pattern) Then I added the already cut out teacup cluster to the back of the frame. I sewed the vellum to the cardstock before adding the whole frame piece on top. Then it was just embellishing! For my final page of the reveal. (You will see a lot more pages with this line from me when I get more time.) I used a pagemaps sketch that was provided by scrapbook cards today. I wanted to show how this line has multiple personalities. It isn't just refined and pretty, it can be a little upbeat and sassy too! I added a couple of cut-outs from the trendsetter line and used kraft to bring it all together. I also made a couple of cards. I was really pressed for time with this card. Of course, I waited until 8pm on the night before my anniversary. So, I had a sketch ready to go and printed the sentiment onto the patterned paper. For the ribbon, I used fabritac to glue the twine to the twill before tying it in a knot. That way the twine stayed put in the middle of the twill. To save time, I threaded the buttons with thread and tied it on the backs of the buttons. Then used a glue dot to adhere them to the card. (I just don't care for the look of un-threaded buttons, but sewing them onto the card takes more time because I have to get them lined up and punch holes.) This is another super simple card. I matted the green paper onto the cream and then sewed it. I meant to only do one line of sewing, but I messed up and made the stitching too far in, so I followed it by another line. I used my nestabilities dies to cut the scalloped circle and then used my martha stewart circle cutter to cut the circle. Since I already had the 'father' from the journaling card, I cut apart one of the sentiments from the SRM stickers, and just used the second part of it.
