What's Black and White and (Insert Color Here) All Over? 3 comments

See what the Digital Creative Team created with choosing one more color with which to work.

Posted by FairyMouseMom

The Digital Creative Team here at A Cherry On Top wanted to focus on creating some striking layouts.  Our mission, for those of us who chose to accept it, was to make a layout created using the color scheme of black, white, and one other color.  We had our own choice as to what the other color was that we wanted to use.  We ended up double, triple, and even quadruple picking the same third color.  What is so neat about that is that you get to see how the same color combinations end up looking so unique and different anyway.  Take a peek....and let us know what you think!

Wet and Wild by bamablue (Glenda)

Emi and Jade probably made the rest of you smile, too, when you looked at this picture?   How fun!

Fear? by FairyMouseMom (Egle)

Egle wrote:  "This is for ACOT's Digital CT Reveal: Using black, white, and one other primary color for the reveal.  I opted to not use red this time...which is one of my favorite color combinations....and opted to challenge myself to try out something new. So, I worked on another "all about me" page and matched the other color to the shirt I was wearing at the time. My daughter took a bunch of pictures of me from when I returned getting my hair highlighted and cut pretty short. The quote I used is one by Marianne Williamson. It was the second time I heard it being said in a movie I was watching....so I took it to mean that things happen for a reason. It was meant for me to "get it" somehow. So, with that being said....don't you love the combination of black, white, and aqua? As a matter of fact, black, white, and another color combination tend to be striking layouts in my eyes."

Binky by mayerkt (Karin)

Yes, Karin, Liam sure is growing up right in front of our eyes, too!

Happy Boo by Mommybruno (Cassandra)

"For this reveal, we had to use black, white and one other color to create a LO. I really love the looks you can get doing this, because that one splash of color really stands out and can give you quite a dramatic look. Here I used a dark blue and I just love how it draws your eye right into the page!"

Animal Lover by Art_Teacher (Laura)

Laura wrote:  "(This is) DH's cousin's little girl. I love how black and white really makes colors and photos pop! This photo, taken in the shade, was perfect for this layout. The only real color is on her skin and her shorts, which I used as my accent color."

You Prayed Her Here by janello (Janell)

Here is the journaling Janell used for her layout:  "Long before Maya was born you have been praying for a sister. When daddy and I told you that mommy was pregnant you said right away that you knew it was a baby sister. You were right! It is very sweet to watch you protect your little sister. You love her so much and love to make her smile. Alex, you have always been a wonderful big brother and I am so thankful that in your prayers you asked for a baby sister. I can’t imagine our family without either one of you. Just the other day Maya went to the doctors and she got a whole bunch of vacinations and that night in your prayers you asked that Maya would feel better soon without anyone prompting you at all. Just another example of your tender, caring heart."

Beauty of the Earth by MamaK321 (Kristianne)

Kristianne wrote:  "(These are) photos of the sunset here in Hawaii. I wanted a simple layout for some of the best images and I really like how they stand out against the black & white theme for this CT reveal."

Doggone Fun by nun69 (Angie)

Angie used one of her most favorite pictures from her recent trip to Disney.  Don't you like how she de-colorized everything in the picture except for Pluto?  By doing this it just makes the orange "pop" even more!

Mom's Bee-Day by mkcdaisy (Amanda)

Amanda, too, de-colorized her photo except for the yellow of the bee cake...and makes the yellow "pop" even more!

So, what did you think?  Do you think these layouts are striking with these color combinations?  Hopefully, we have inspired you to try one of these on your own.  We would love to see those layouts in the gallery here.  Have fun!!!
