When in Doubt Wear Red! 3 comments
Scrapping in Shades of RedPosted by MamaK321
When you look up the meaning for the color "Red" you will find that there are hundreds of things that correlate with this color. Passionate Love to Power Plays - Red speaks several emotions and can fit almost any situation (so when in doubt wear red!). However; as it is Cupid's month (and not some horned demon's) we celebrated this color in all its shades of adoration. Laura (Art_Teacher) shares a few tips saying, "The reveal this week was to use shades of red in honor of Valentine's Day. Red is one of my favorite colors to use in my scrapping. It really adds warmth and elegance to a layout, plus it draws the eye the way no other color can!"
The bold red accents in Sarah's (davsar) shows off how hot those two hotties are in the picture (he, he - well at least my hubby is)!
A pink carnation means "I will never forget you". The same can be said of this gorgeous spread by Angie (nun69).
Annelies (anneleis1972) showcases one very sweet smile on a bed of red and pink.
Bringing together several kits Jenn (jjenni08) created an ubber fun layout. She says "it is so easy to choose a color combo and create a masterpiece using many items from many places. It's a challenge too to decide what to use."
Jennifer (sarahwhithers) says, "for the digi reveal this week, we used reds and pinks as our focal colors. The colors mix beautifully, especially for those valentine's or sweetheart pages!" And how cute she is with her beau!
For this next layout you'll need a few tissues - the journaling is beautiful! However; don't get too carried away in emotions, Ronny (Smiley-Scrap8) shares some valuable tips: "To be honest I find it a challenge to work with red and pink, mostly because they are not colors that I am drawn to. I do find it helps to use a neutral color like, black, gray or white to break things up a bit which is what I did with my layout. Change the photo to black & white is a good choice when working with a monochromatic theme.
Pink is such a wonderful way to celebrate little baby girls just like Sara (Keling) did in this spread. She says, "when it came to pinks, I had just been dying to play with Lindsay Jane's new "My Little Cupcake" kit! And what better subject to scrap was my sister's "Tickled Pink" baby shower just a couple of weeks ago!" Shannon (-Shannon-) created a 'glamorous' layout that expresses her love of her grandmother. Red is one of those timeless shades that can be used with any theme. Get ready to catch some kisses from this sweet layout by Kristianne (mamaK321) who used pink and red to accent her page. She shares a tip for finding the perfect colors in a kit... utilize your tools! With a little burning and/or color adjustment, you can get the exact shades you want. By using a sweet shades of pink as the primary color in her layout, Kirsty (ksbella) makes her adorable photos *pop* off the page! Egle (FairyMouseMom) likes to pair red along with black and white to give a layout a punch of color! See what she created here as the layout for the picture that is featured for the month of January for the 2010 calendar she has been putting together.
Now don't be shy to play with Red - you can't go wrong with this color! Here are a few of the kits in the store that contain shades of this fabulous color (all images linked). Posted by MamaK321 Reader Comments ... 2/23/10 4:27 am
