Homemade Happiness Using KaiserCraft

Posted by Kimandasmo

You always hear the saying happiness starts at home or happiness is homemade....well this collection by Kaisercraft represents that sentiment perfectly. It covers home and family on all basis. The warm brown and neutrals make this line feel comfy and cozy....just like family.

This first layout that I did is of my daughter's last day as a ten year old. I used the lovely lace sewn cardstock as a base and layered squares of cosy cottage and friendly family papers on to that. I embellished it with some of the fabulous wood buttons ( my favorite embellishment in this line)

The next layout is of my aunt and uncles wedding....way back in the 80's. I chose to scrap this picture with these papers because they are very warm and inviting, the way I hope my family has been to my aunt. The chipboard sentiment was the perfect addition for this photo.

I made this card to welcome some new to our family...although I do not think I will use it any time soon...

This shadow box project has been on my to do list for quite some time, but I never had the right papers to match my decor or the sentiments that I wanted. As soon as I saw this line I knew it was exactly right for this project.  There is not one piece of the entire Homemade line that I did not use. I cut, layered, distressed and inked the day away completing this.

Thank you to ACOT for allowing to creaat with these great products:

fun and easy!

Posted by megamay

I usually hate scrapping birthday photos.  Not only is there pressure to do it right, but the photos are colorful and busy. This line made it so easy! The colors are bright and cheerful but something about them adds a little sophistication - maybe the shade of blue, or the orange-y yellow. Im not sure but they arent your usual bright primary colors. they are just gorgeous!

I planned this first page while I was laying in bed. I thought that with the bright colors I shouldnt use too much of the patterned papers because it would be overwhelming. As you can see in the other pages, I was totally wrong, but this one turned out really cute too. I sprayed 4 colors of glimmer mist and arranged the photos in a grid.

for this one I used a pagemaps sketch.

finally, I just had to use this celebrate paper. It made this page come together so easily!

and finally a card. again, easy!

Scraplifting CD Cover Designs

Posted by Art_Teacher

Do you ever run out of ideas for layouts?  Don't neglect the artwork that is all around you for inspiration.  This week, our Digi team decided to scraplift CD cover designs.  We picked three CD covers and each came up with our own interpretations of those compositions.  We hope you will be inspired to check out your favorite CD's as well!

Here is cover # 1:

Here are the layouts inspired by this cover:

Brothers from Another Mother by Mommybruno

Cassandra says, " I scraplifted the CD I chose, James Taylor's Greatest Hits. Very minimalist and full of white space. The list of song titles inspired me to list things about my DH and his friends. I added a bit of color with the bottom paper layer, and the bracket behind the photo."

Together by Art_Te acher:

Laura explains, "For this reveal, scraplifting CD covers, I used the James Taylor cover and took note of the minimal decoration. I tried to use the black and white with a touch of red as the color scheme and arranged my journaling in the same way the typography is used on the cover layout. This was a challenge for me, as I am not that comfortable with white space!"

 Bob's 50th Surprise Birthday Party - Cover

Egle tells us, "This is my lifted layout of James Taylor's Album/CD cover. My list is of things that which filled my friend's birthday party! I added some birthday embellishments just for a bit of "pop." Hopefully, this will have him want to keep turning the pages of the mini album I am making for him."

Spooktacular by sarahwhithers

Jenn scraps "the girls all dressed up for a Halloween party."

Here is the 2nd CD cover we chose:

Here are the layouts inspired by this cover:

No Place Like Home by Art_Teacher

Laura tells us, "I scraplifted the Dixie Chicks "Fly" CD cover for this layout, focusing on the close-ups of the butterfly wings for the title. I took photos of items around my house to spell out "HOME" and used it for part of my title. I also flipped the composition upside down, and tried to use a similar font."

Brunos by Mommybruno

Cassandra narrates, "This LO is a scraplift of a Dixie Chicks album, and I had fun using the circles. I kept mine linear instead of staggered (I'm a very linear scrapper most of the time, LOL!) and replaced the circles down the side with a dotted arrow. This was a fun LO to put together!"

Chick Night (Take 3) by FairyMouseMom

Egle writes, "I created my layout copying the exact same styling as the cover. I recently had a chick night by me this past month and thought this was a great way to highlight my night...spent with fun friends, beautiful flowers, great wine, and some food!!!

CD Cover Inspiration by DolphinSoul (Guest CT)

Carissa gives details about her layout, saying, "The Dixie Chicks album really brought inspiration in making such an easy template for a layout. As soon as I saw the large circles I knew I wanted to use them. Along with seeing Sweet Digi Scraps new Sea Drift kit, I had the photos ready for them. On our recent trip to Gatlinburg TN, I found pure tranquility and joy and I thought it would be fun to use the cool postcard to send to write to anyone with a little twist to it:

"If your searching for me,
you will find me at the
point where mother nature
has kissed down on and
shown her love. Cross the
bridges where the majestic
waters are & look up for
the sun setting, cascading
over the mountains. I will
be there taking in the view
awaiting for you. Love, Me"

With the address of:

"Whoever is Missing Out
247 Boredom Lane
Wanting, NTR 36524-07"

Here is our 3rd CD cover that we chose:

Here are the layouts inspired by this cover:

Refresh by Mommybruno

Cassandra says, "I have to admit, I put this one off till last because I just wasn't sure what I wanted to do. But after I studied the CD cover, I decided it was basically just a scenic background with an extraction. I could do that! And I did, LOL! I extracted a pic of Xander at the beach this summer, and made my own background. I then mimicked the artist and title on the CD by using a large page title and a subtitle/journaling line. And of the three layouts I did for this reveal, this is by far my favorite!"

Mysterious Side? by FairyMouseMom

Egle goes through her process, saying, "I decided to use a full sheet of a printed paper rather than creating my own. I used a recent picture of myself and extracted myself from it. I just added my name...and some journaling underneath....and that was it."

O Holy Night by Art_Teacher

Laura explains, "For this scraplift of the Anna Ternheim CD cover, I extracted a photo of our Christmas tree. I also tried to mimic the look of blues/whites with reds and golds. I also tried to use a similar composition and font."

We hope your layouts have given you ideas for how to get inpiration from the art you see in your daily lives.  Below are some of the fabulous products from our shoppe which are used in these layouts.

It's YOUR Day

Posted by suslvgeo

So most of you that read my articles monthly, know that I am not really a "themed" type of scrapper. In fact, when I do get themed papers I usually try to show different ways of using them "other" than the actual theme...well not this month!! I have a really hard time scrapping birthday pages, usually  that is because the photos are so busy, or because the lines are really bright and not my style ...
