Hello! Here's a little bit about me ...
In 2002, my son started high school, and I started scrapbooking. Lately I have been more focused on making cards.
Scrapbooking appeals to the journalist in me. My college degree is in journalism, and I worked for 15 years at a daily newspaper. As a journalism student, I learned the principles of publication design, from creating a focal point and use of white space to font selection and color theory. As a journalist, I designed thousands (yes, thousands) of newspaper pages and cropped thousands of photos. Now I try to bring that education and experience together to create scrapbook pages that will be meaningful to my son today and years into the future. Some pages work better than others, but I learn as I go!
My approach to scrapbooking is to start with the photos. I look for papers, colors, embellishments and fonts that will enhance the message that I am trying to convey. My pages are masculine; I don't do any girl pages, just an occasional girly card for a friend. I have a few pages and cards in the gallery here at ACOT -- I hope you'll take a look!
I love the look of stitching on my projects, whether machine sewn, stamped or rubbed-on. I do some stamping and inking, too, and embossing, and, well ... I love it all! TFL -- Rhonda
