My family drove to Ferndale, CA to see their parade. Usually we also stay and see the Kinetic Scupltures come in from their 3-day race but didn't today. Instead, we followed parade goers to the cemetary for the Annual Memorial Day Services. This is the first time that we have observed this ritual, and I am so glad that we did. My husband's grandfather served during WWII. Before the parade we put flowers on dh's grandmother's grave and before going to Ferndale, we put flowers on dh's mother's grave in Fortuna.
