How To Make a Shaker Card

By Jessica Harvey

Who doesn't love a shaker card!? I think they are so fun and add a lot of interest to cards. I think they are perfect for winter cards because when you add white sequins, it has a snowy vibe. Although they may seem intimidating, they really aren't very hard to create. Watch the video to see how and I'll explain it more below.

Start by cutting out a circle on your outside paper (I used Circle Family Basic Designer Dies) and use double-sided tape to adhere the acetate to it. Apply foam tape in the shape of the circle and around the rest of the area the card front will cover. I find it is easier to shape the foam tape if you take off the backing as you work. Add in your sequins before sticking your two parts together! That's it for making the shaker part, now time to embellish!

For the base of my card, I'm using Sizzix Opulent Cardstock Paper. It is so beautiful and comes in many different colors. The best part is the glitter on the glitter paper doesn't come off! Because I planned on coloring in my stamps with alcohol markers, I'm using Strathmore Marker Paper both for stamping and my background. Marker paper is perfect for stamping because it is super smooth.

I used the Snowflakes Background Stamp to emboss Silver WOW! Embossing Powder to create a background. I originally was going to use patterned paper, but I couldn't find one that would look just right, so I decided to create my own and I am very happy that I did!

Lawn Fawn has so many cute critters, I wanted to use them all! For my blue card, I'm using the Snowball Fight Stamp Set and coordinating Lawn Cuts. The pink card has the Ugly And Bright Clear Stamps and coordinating Lawn Cuts. I stamped them with the Catherine Pooler Midnight Ink Pad. You need to use an ink that won't be affected by the alcohol in the markers. I have a few different brands of alcohol markers that I used together for this project. This includes Sketch Markers, Spectrum Noir Markers, and Sizzix Markers

I popped up my elements on foam squares and this project was complete! They turned out so cute!! Thanks for stopping by and let us know by tagging us on social media if you create a shaker card, we'd love to see it!
