We're heating it up!

It is my hope that July will bring more sun than we had in June around here!  The endless rainy days really zapped my creativity and did not make for good photos.  Thankfully it is a new month and that means new challenges from the Creative Team to heat up your scrap rooms.  Hopefully our inspiration can bring a little sunshine to you!

Remember:

- only one LO per challenge will enter you into the points drawing

- LOs cannot be entered into more than one challenge category

- *please* only enter LOs that meet the specific challenge instructions

Ad Inspiration Challenge - By MamaK321 (Kristianne)

Paper or Digital

Ad inspiration is about taking ideas, such as colors, patterns, title or keywords, theme, font styles, and element placement, and using them to create your own layout. You can break the ad inspiration down to a basic sketch, copy a prominent design straight from the ad, or you can alter a design to fit your own layout. Most ads are 8.5x11" but you can adapt the ad to fit any size. Remember, this is not a sketch and you are not required to follow every detail. The key is to really LOOK at the ad and find the pieces that INSPIRE you!

Card Challenge - By bluejeans7 (Angela)

Paper or Digital

Since it's July and we tend to think of red, white and blue this month I want you to create a card using ONLY the colors red, white & blue. It doesn't have to be a 4th of July card, any theme is fine just be sure to use the required colors.

Color Challenge - by Art_Teacher (Laura)

Paper or Digital

July is here and summer is in full swing. When most people think of July colors, red, white and blue come to mind first. But, since that color combination has been done frequently, I am going to challeng you with something else. Last month we took a stroll down memory lane, and we used colors that were favorites many years ago. Since my anniversary is in July, this month, I want you to use your wedding colors to scrap a layout! If you aren't married, use the colors you would use for your wedding.

My wedding colors were rainbow pastels....I know...try not to giggle. Here is my layout using all those colors: peach, mint, light blue, pink, and lavendar.

Digi Technique Challenge - By mayerkt (Karin)

Ever have a ton of photos that you want to showcase on a layout in a clean, simple way? This month's Digi Technique Challenge will show you how you can quickly create many little spaces for those photos to go.  We'll also be using a technique called a clipping mask.  Create a LO using the instructions in this technique article!

Everyday Inspiration Challenge - By davsar (Sarah)

Paper AND Digital

The world is so automated - even my eighty-year-old Grandma occasionally gets online. In fact I bet most of us spend about an hour or more each day on the internet, or twittering (what ever that means?? :-D), or chatting online. That is kind of a big part of our lives! But have you ever thought about scrapping it? For this challenge show us how or where you spend your time online - do you use a phone, do you have favorite sites, do you only get online at work - get the jest!

(Please do not include any personal addresses or sites - we want to keep your identity safe ;))

Faithbooking Challenge - By Keling (Sara)

Paper or Digital

Create a page that is inspired by and/or includes one of the Bible passages, quotes or definitions below.

July - A Person of Prayer

Even though I'm far away in England, I am still looking forward to the 4th of July. There won't be any fireworks this year, but for sure I'll be heading out to a summer fair somewhere!

When it came to thinking about a Christian character trait for this month, the first things that came to my mind were glory and patriotism, but, they just didn't seem to be quite right. Instead, the verse, "If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land," (2 Chronicles 7:14), and thoughts of praying for our country, and being people of prayer kept coming to my mind.

Bermuda, which has been my home for most of my life, has especially been going through quite a bit of turmoil, with 3 demonstrations in the last week, calling for our Premier to step down. That, with all the other troubles the US and UK, and all other countries are facing around the world, our nations need our prayers.

"Pray for our military men and women who are, striving to do what is right also for this country, that our leaders, our national leaders are sending them out on a task that is from God. That is what we have to make sure we are praying for: that there is a plan, and that that plan is God's plan.. So bless them with your prayers." ~ Sarah Palin ((said in a speech to graduating ministry students in 2008)

"A man is powerful on his knees." ~ Corrie ten Boom

"Throughout our history, Americans of faith have always turned to prayer — for wisdom, prayer for resolve, prayers for compassion and strength, prayers for commitment to justice and for a spirit of forgiveness. Since America’s founding, prayer has reassured us that the hand of God is guiding the affairs of this nation. We have never asserted a special claim on His favor, yet we’ve always believed in God’s presence in our lives. This has always been true. But it has never been more true since September the 11th. Prayer has comforted people in grief. Prayer has served as a unifying factor in our nation. Prayer gives us strength for the journey ahead." ~ George W. Bush

“If we would talk less and pray more about them, things would be be better than they are in the world; at least, we should be better enabled to bear them.” ~ John Owen

"If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land" ~ 2 Chronicles 7:14 (NIV)

"The prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective." ~ James 5:16b

"This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us. And if we know that He hears us - whatever we ask - we know that we have what we asked of Him." ~ 1 John 5:14-15

"Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus" ~ Philippians 4:6-7

Hybrid Challenge - By Smiley-Scrap8 (Ronny)

Paper AND Digital

Fancy up your photo with DIGITAL BRUSHES and TEXT/WORD ART before printing it and adding it to your layout.

For my example I used different color swirl brushes to sort of hide the distracting background of the photo of my son. Then I used a piece of word art by Kreations by Kami for my title.

Let the Music Move You Challenge - By Kimandasmo (Cindy)

Paper or Digital

This month's challenge is to use any song with the word "summer" in the title. You may also use lyrics from that song. Just tell us what the song is and who sings it when you post it in the gallery. I chose to use the song Summertime by Etta James...and used a lyric as my only journaling.

My example:

Manufacturer Challenge - By 4peasinourpod (Pam)

Paper only

This month....Collage Press. When I saw these new lines from Collage Press, i was totally blown away. I had them on my radar, as my friend Julie Overby is on their Design Team, but once I saw these new lines, I was TOTALLY hooked. The quality of this company is phemononal, and I really cannot WAIT to see what they do for CHA!

My layout (which is straight in real life..honest!)

One Word Challenge - By nun69 (Angie)

July's One Word Challenge: "SIMPLE"

Photography Challenge - By nun69 (Angie)

Photography only

This month I want you to take a photo of that one piece of jewelry that shows your style, is unique to you or you just absolutely LOVE it and then tell us why or the story behind it. :)

Mine is an Arabic ring I just had made and it has all of my kids names in Arabic writing...the ring also spins in the center...so I know this is going to be a piece of jewerly I will cherish for a long time. :)

(this photo mysteriously went missing from the gallery but please show us yours!)

Scrap Your Life Challenge - By nun69 (Angie)

Paper or Digital

I want you to scrap the simple pleasures in life that you enjoy but sometimes might not be able to find the time to enjoy them as much as you would like...for me it is all about a pedicure, but most times I just don't have the extra 1-2 hours to get them and I can't justify $30 cost...but if I could, this would be a bi-weekly treat. :)

Sketch Challenge - By Laura Fiore and 4peasinourpod (Laura and Pam)

Paper or Digital

A sketch is just a sketch challenge! Whenever the mojo is missing or scarce, a sketch is one of the fastest, easiest ways to get it going again. You can use a little of it, or follow it perfectly...the choice is yours! This month's sketch is a fun one...using one of those cool diecut shaped papers. But Laura didn't have one to match the colors in her layout, so she traced one on cardstock...the choices are all yours!

Supply List Challenge - By Beth-W (Beth)

Paper or Digital

I call July's Supply List Challenge the Bling Cherry Challenge. Fruit icons are hot this season and in honor of ACOT, you must include cherries on your page. I want you to break out your Stickles and glitter and add some sparkle to your page. You must also include some chipboard for the challenge.

Here is my page:

Theme Challenge - By ScrapGoo (Jess)

Paper or Digital

July is right there in the middle of Summer.  For this month's challenge I want you to show us how it's "Summertime and the living is easy" by scrapping about an activity that just screams "Summer" to you.  I chose a baseball game because our family anxiously awaits the games, hotdogs, sun, and laughs of a Summertime ballgame.

Trends & Techniques Challenge - By katarria (Kathy)

Paper or Digital

I’ve been seeing a lot of Kraft paper on layouts lately. Let’s go trendy this month and use Kraft on a layout. You can use it as your background or as a smaller component. In my sample I used patterned Kraft by Jillibean Soup.
