April showers bring May... inspiration!

Ahhh May!  My windows are open, the trees are in bloom, and we just had our biggest crop of the year here at ACOT.  Could it get any better?  Well, yes, in fact it can!  How about some awesome new challenges to keep your creative juices flowing.  It is time for new color pallets and Springy embellishments.  And don't forget that each month we choose ten random winners to be awarded 250 ACOT points each!  The more challenges you enter, the more chances you have of winning.  What are you waiting for!?

- only one LO per challenge will enter you into the points drawing

- LOs cannot be entered into more than one challenge category

- *please* only enter LOs that meet the specific challenge instructions

- You may NOT enter LOs created for crop challenges.  These must be new LOs.

Ad Inspiration Challenge - By MamaK321 (Kristianne)

Paper or Digital

Ad inspiration is about taking ideas, such as colors, patterns, title or keywords, theme, font styles, and element placement, and using them to create your own layout. You can  break the ad inspiration down to a basic sketch, copy a prominent design straight from the ad, or you can alter a design to fit your own layout. Most ads are 8.5x11" but you can adapt the ad to fit any size. Remember, this is not a sketch and you are not required to follow every detail. The key is to really LOOK at the ad and find the pieces that INSPIRE you!

Card Challenge - By bluejeans7 (Angela)

What's that old saying?  "April showers bring May flowers."  So with the month of May here let's see all of those beautiful flowers!  Your card can be any theme you want but you must you at least 3 different "types" of flowers while creating it.  On my sample card I used flower pattern paper, silk flowers and flower shaped brads.

Color Challenge - by Art_Teacher (Laura)

Paper or Digital

May is the month for many graduations. So for this month's color challenge, I challenge you to scrap a layout in your high school colors. Do you remember what they are? My high school, the London Red Raiders, uses the colors red and white. So, for my example, I used those colors to scrap one of my students and her artwork. You may use other colors as accents, but the predominant colors in your layout should be those of your alma mater.

Faithbooking Challenge - By Keling (Sara)

Create a layout or other project inspired by the concept of Generosity. The meaning, Bible verses and quotes are for your inspiration ~ feel free to use them if you wish, or use other quotes or passages from your personal spiritual book.

When May comes around, I automatically think Mother's Day. And when I think mothers, the thought of giving always follows. It's the kind of giving that is above and beyond what is expected, and then giving some more. As Christians, this unique brand of generosity is what often sets us apart from many others. Like Christ gave ALL that he had for us, we should be willing to give all that we have for Him and for those around us, friend, stranger or foe. It's giving without thought of return, and giving because we have received so much from our Heavenly Father.

Generosity - 1. readiness or liberality in giving; 2. freedom from meanness or smallness of mind or character; 3. a generous act; 4. largeness or fullness, amplitude

"He is no fool who gives what he cannot keep to gain what he cannot lose." ~ Jim Elliot

"We make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give." ~ Winston Churchill

"Do all the good you can,
By all the means you can,
In all the ways you can,
In all the places you can,
At all the times you can,
To all the people you can,
As long as ever you can." ~ John Wesley

2 Corinthians 9:7 ~ "Each man should give what he has decided in his heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver."

1 Timothy 6:18 ~ "Command them to do good, to be rich in good deeds, and to be generous and willing to share."

James 1:27 ~ "Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world."

Galatians 6:9-10 ~ "Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up. Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers."

Trends & Techniques Challenge - By katarria (Kathy)

Paper or Digital

One of my favorite trends this year has been using the new border punches! I am super excited that ACOT is carrying them now! For this month's challenge, you need to use a border punch on a layout. You can create frames, photo mats, border strips, journal blocks, or even alter your photos with these punches!
