A Bit About Kelly: Hello Cherries! I have the honor of being the Guest Designer for April. (Whoo-hoo!) I am so thrilled and excited! I hope to provide you with some fun and some scrappy inspiration over the next month!
Guilty pleasure: Other than the obvious --buying too many scrap supplies-- my guilty pleasure is downloading apps, music, & books on my IPAD2. Eeeekkk! I am really bad!
Layout #1: A Lovely Day
We recently took an RV trip to New Braunfels, Texas during Spring Break vacation. I took tons of photos! I am a nature lover galore and knew I had to scrap some of my favorite nature shots. This first layout features some photos I took while on an early morning walk on the Guadalupe River. It was so peaceful and serene. I loved the arch of the bridge and the reflection on the water. It was truly a great start to a very lovely day.

Layout #2: You Make Me Smile
The majority of this layout was created using the Jenni Bowlin's new Magpie collection. I love the hexagon shapes! They are so versatile and really add something new and different to a layout. As you can see, I used lots of pattern papers and layers. I like the dimension It gives the page. The grid pattern makes layering easy and it helps me keep my lines straight. (Which is always a challenge for me!) I used Jenni Bowlin's (Fiskars) butterfly punch and pop dots to add another layer of dimension. Another element in this layout that creates a little texture is the sewing machine stitching. Here, I added three rows of stitching to the upper right corner and bottom left corner to create balance and to add some texture. To create unity, I like to ink my edges. I really think it helps bring the page together. Lastly, I felt this layout needed a little something extra before I could call it done. I used a light green PrismaColor watercolor pencil and outlined the edges of the background paper and went over it with a damp paintbrush.

Layout #3:
This layout is of my grandbaby, Emery and me. My nick-name for her is squoosh, because, well, I just can't resist squooshing her! :)
I love the look of layering! It adds so much dimension and interest to a layout. I know this style is not for everyone, but if you haven't tried it, you should give it a whirl! :) You might find that it is, indeed, for you! One of my new favorite products is twine. I like to create loops and staple them to the page here and there. I really like that little extra "umphh" it adds to the page, not to mention it creates some texture on the page.
Journaling Says: My sweet little emi-pie. You are so kissable and squooshable! I just can't resist loving on you. You are a job bringer.
