About the Designer...
G’day, I’m Jodie Patterson - a 35 year-old Aussie girl, living in the USA for the last three years with my husband (a University Professor), and two cute, active toddlers. In Australia, I was the State Correspondent for a a national Australian newspaper, having also worked in television, print, and web media for over 20 years. I've had some interesting jobs over the years, everything from managing a retro clothing store in Sydney, to styling and makeup for television, to hosting a kids TV show in my own basement! I’ve decided to take a break from media while raising my kids and it's enabled me to turn my passion for digital scrapbooking into a true obsession!

I started using Photoshop over 16 years ago and have used it in my various work positions over the years, and eventually as a hobby creating 'glamor portraits' that I started to sell on Ebay. I can still remember the day I discovered Digital Scrapbooking (about 3 years ago) when I picked up a copy of the first edition of ‘A Simple Guide to Digital Scrapbooking’ in Barnes and Noble. I think I died and went to heaven. I don’t remember having many early nights after that (LOL)! In addition to designing, I've also been published 4 times in 'Scrapbooking Memories' - Australia's No. 1 Selling Scrapbooking Magazine.

I would describe my style as rather artsy, eclectic and ‘Bohemian’, and that’s why I’m known in scrapbooking circles as ‘The Gypsy Chick’ (that, and the fact that I have moved too many times to count)! Along my travels, I’ve picked up a unique sense of design, and an eye for color and texture that fits best into the ‘free-style’ scrapping genre. I draw inspiration for my designs from anything and everything; flea-markets in Europe and Asia, thrift store finds, coffee shops around the world, magazines and books, grungy city textures, even childhood memories of my Mother’s clothing, or my own kids’ finger paintings.

When I’m not designing, I’m usually hanging out with my husband and kids, pining for the beach in Sydney, shopping at Goodwill, Target or Pier 1, and thinking about what I’ll design next. I also enjoy photography, R&B and Jazz, creating gourmet recipes, freelance writing, and meeting new faces.
