Mixed Media Scrapbook Layout

Rachel and I had a scrapbooking session where we wanted to scrap our Creativation trip. I thought these pictures were so fun and kind of goofy so I just had to scrap them. I took inspiration from the Creativation logo where it was mostly black but had the work “CREATIVATION” in rainbow. Most of my layout is black and white with the “paintbrush strokes” in rainbow. I also used the Becky Fleck #159 Challenge as layout inspiration.

List of mixed media materials I used:

Texture Paste, Alcohol Ink, Distress Oxide Ink Pad, Distress Oxide Reinkers, Distress Crayons, Distress Markers, Glossy Accents

Other tools:

WRMK Tear Guides, Palette Paper, Tim Holtz Travel Glass Media Mat, Scrapbook Adhesive, Cardstock, Paintbrush, Pattele Knife

Here is the video of the process of designing and putting this layout together.

Making the rainbow brushstroke:

First I applied the texture paste on my page using a pallete knife, then I went over it with a paintbrush to get the texture the way I wanted it.

Next I did some testing to see what would work on top of the texture past. I used Alcohol Ink, Distress Oxide Ink Pad, Distress Oxide Reinkers, Distress Crayons, and Distress Markers. Everythink I tried did stay on and worked just how I planned it to.

Most of the materials I blended with water and a paintbrush.

This layout was a lot of fun to make and I really liked using the texture paste. It is an easy way to add demention to your page. I also wanted to show that there really isn't a wrong way to play with mixed media. Just try it out and see what happens!
