Scrapping your Little Guy 5 comments

with KI Memories

KI Memories has consistently been one of my favorite scrap companies through the past few years. I tend to scrap using a lot of neutral colors, and it seems like KI’s lines always steer me away from my normal color schemes to brighten things up! I’ve been waiting awhile now for the perfect line to come along so I could scrap these photos I took for my friend of her two boys. The bright colors and fun embellishments of the KI Memories Little Guy line were perfect for what I was planning!

The papers in this line are really well coordinated with the chipboard shapes and pop-up sticker embellishments, and I had a lot of fun choosing what to put on the layouts! Since I don’t scrap a lot of boy photos, this line was like a breath of fresh air for me! On my first layout, I was careful not to overdo the embellishments or include too many layers of patterned paper because the toys in the photo meant the photo itself was already somewhat busy. I chose to use my circle cutter to cut an offset circle as my main design element, then placed my embellishments on one of the fun sticker borders to balance the layout.
I wanted my next layout to be a bit more classic, so I chose coordinating cardstock to use with the patterned papers. The sticker borders added just enough of a break between the cardstock and the patterned papers, and the chipboard buttons were the perfect embellishment. Cute without being too cutesy – I’m always worried about being too cutesy with boy pages. Since my boy pages are usually gifts, it’s sometimes tough to keep a good balance between cute and cutesy, but I thought this line was perfect for what I had been planning!
Rather than scrap only boy photos, I chose to do a layout of one of Phil’s road races. He runs at least a few races each year, and these photos were from a race last summer at Ocean Beach in Connecticut. I had been meaning to scrap them for awhile, but when I saw the “ready, set, go” and “run” chipboard embellishments, I knew I would do a racing layout. I layered the photos, then had fun adding the sticker borders and embellishments afterwards.
Before I was finished, I made a birthday card for my friend’s baby boy using the scraps. I loved the bright colors in this line and the leftover chipboard pieces added just enough dimension for my taste.

Below are all of the KI Memories products that I used for my layouts/card:
