Here in Massachusetts we are still getting snow! Luckily SEI rescued me from the winter blues with their new line Mimosa. It's loaded with bright colors: pinks, oranges, and greens that almost make you feel like you're on vacation right there in your scrap room! The patterns are bold and covered in great shimmer and glitter. SEI also packs their collections with tons of fun embellishments. I had a chance to play with their fantastic coordinating ribbons, flowers, chipboard, rub-ons, stickers, and brads. If you need a warm up or the perfect way to scrap a little paradise you need to check out this line!
The first layout I did with this line was inspired by the great pattern on this paper. I thought the bursts of color on it echoed the shape of the palm trees in my photo and the colors matched perfectly. I used my craft knife to cut some of the pattern out to overlap the strip of paper on the right, which has a great ombre effect (like a sunset!). I added stickers, flowers layered with brads, and a rub-on to complete the page.
Sometimes I have photos of nature that simply make me happy but I am not sure how to scrap. This line coordinated wonderfully with a couple of flower photos I had taken at the San Diego Zoo and the colors in the paper really brought out the vibrant beauty of nature. I cut some of the blooms from the "Mimosa Shimmer" paper and layered them at the bottom and placed the rest of my elements symmetrically. One of the chipboard tags was perfect for my journaling.
This line is more than pink and orange! I had several photos of a day at Huntington Beach, CA and I wanted to show off the gorgeous blues of the ocean and sky in them. I chose several of the green papers from the Mimosa line to give this layout a more cool tone. I used kraft as a neutral background and two bold green patterned papers to layer the rest of my embellishments on.
He Calls Me Goober
Obviously the colors in this line lend themselves to wonderful vacation photos but these papers can go beyond that! I used some of the more subtle prints on this layout to give it a softer feel. The pink was a little girly and the fabulous glitter on some of these papers was an extra feminine touch under the bling swirl. I added more layered flowers, brads, and a journaling sticker to complete the look.
It is also a total snap to create cards with these products! I particularly loved using the journal stickers and the smooth rub-ons because they practically make the cards for you. On the square card I popped one of the chipboard frames around a layered flower and added a rub-on. For the second card I chose some of the more fun papers and added a flourish cut with the Slice machine. So easy!!
