Hey Crafty Friends,
It is Ali here today and I am so excited to be the February Guest Designer for A Cherry on Top. I am sharing a layout that I created with the new Simple Stories Sweet Talk line. It is all about love this month and I was so excited to use their cute Valentine’s Day collection.
I used Vicki Boutin’s foundation paper to make a watercolor background for this layout. I picked Tim Holtz’s worn lipstick distress ink pad to ink my stamping block and then misted it with water. I then took some sticker packaging to pick up the ink and kiss the cardstock with the acetate and love how the effect turned out. I cut the white background at an angel and matted it on black cardstock to give it a more grounded look.
I asked Lacey Ann Designs to create a cut file that said Sweet Talk with a pair of lips. Not only was it perfect for the photos of my husband and me in the diner but is also the name of Simple Stories’ new Valentine’s Day collection. I was so pleased with how the title turned out. I backed it with multiple papers from the collection and decided to use Doodlebug Designs stitch rub-ons to outline the title. If you do not have any, you can also use a black pen and create your own stitches. Red glitter paper was used to back up those lush full lips and to give them more power I used Zazz pomegranate to outline those full lips. I used foam tape behind the cut file and some of the die-cuts to give the layout some dimension. My photos were matted with black cardstock and stickers and die cuts were added to the layout.
Just in case you were wondering if all that sweet talk my husband was doing behind that menu got him the milkshake…it did not. When it comes to sweets, I have a hard time sharing, even with all that sweet going on.
Stay tuned all month to see what she will create!
