Twisted Templates 6 comments

A great technique to extend the life of your purchased templates.

So have you ever wondered what to do with all those GREAT templates in the digi shoppe? This week the Digi CT will not only show you how to use them just the way they are, but also how you can "twist it up". The CT gals partnered up, with one gal scrapping the template in its original design and the other gal putting her own twist on the template by rearranging the pieces to create a completely different design. This is a fantastic way to extend the usefulness of templates that you purchase. You can find a variety of awesome templates, including freebie templates, in the shoppe.
For some tips on how to use a template, check out Angie's
Template Class from our May Crop, in the resources section.

Angie and Janell used one of Randi Oh Designs' Heart Templates.

{Original} Uniquely You by nun69
Angie says “
I used the template just the way it was, except I moved the strips around and didn't use the hearts, but kept everything else the same."

{Twisted} MDT by janello
Janell says “I took the original and made the pictures larger and pulled them to the center of the layout and then deleted the hearts and also all but two of the journaling strips.”

Angie and Kristi used one of Di Hickman’s DiAGRAM Templates.

{Original} Thanksgiving Fun by nun69
Angie says “
you can do all kinds of things with templates, so give it a shot!

{Twisted} Bike Ride by MamaK321
Kristi says “I moved the focus to the lower left corner of the layout and rearranged the photos, combining two of the smaller blocks for a larger vertical photo spot.”

Ronny and Diana used one of Sweet Digi Scraps’ Templates.

{Original} Got Candy? by dianagirly
Diana says “
I have so many pictures but have a hard time thinking of new ways to place more than one photo on a page. With this template I was able to just drop my pictures in place knowing the design would be perfectly placed.”

{Twisted} Water Balloon Fight by Smiley-Scrap8
Ronny says “I rotated the template to the left, slid the group of photos to the left more and changed the placement of the title. This worked best for my photos.”

Laura and Egle used one of Bella Gypsy’s Sketchology Templates.

{Original} Great Minds by Art-Teacher

{Twisted} Priceless by FairyMouseMom

Sara and Kristi used one of Bella Gypsy’s Sketchology Templates: Bracketeering.

{Original} Edwardian  Spring Fair by Keling
Sara says “Templates are one of the easiest ways to scrap digitally! They're awesome if your mojo is a bit out of steam, or if you need/want to do something quick.”

{Twisted} Rock* N Roll Mama by MamaK321
Kristi says "I rearranged the pieces of the template, changing their orientation and deleting some of the excess pieces that I didn't need."

Karin and Amanda used one of Laura Burger’s Templates.

{Original} 1st Day of School by mckdaisy

{Twisted} Doh Doh by mayerkt
Karin says “I enjoy mixing things up with templates, it gets more life out of them and you can always use it as a starting point for inspiration!”

Sarah and Ronny used one of Shelle Pukas Templates.

{Original} Sweet Strawberry Pickin’ by Smiley-Scrap8
Ronny says “I used the template as is, and I could not have picked a better design for these photos. Templates really help make scrapping easy to fit into my day."

{Twisted} Double Trouble by davsar
Sarah says “I rotated the template, deleted one of the pictures, and moved everything to one side."
